Suggest a no-impact exercise that's actually fun.

I strongly suspect that will irritate the knees and especially hips in similar ways to the bike, but moreso. (I'm old. A lot hurts.)

DP, and erging (rowing machine) is not fun at ALL. Being on the water, yes, but erging is awful.

Swimming/water aerobics, yes, lots of fun.

I wish! Definitely not happening for me at this age.

Barre always sounded to me like it would be all the suffering of dance without the dance. No? - OP

Now THAT's a good idea. I wonder if anybody is teaching online? Could be anywhere. Or if there's a good local teacher, let me know!

I don’t have recs but there are definitely classes online and in person in this area, I’ve had lots of friends do it.

NP - Try Sahara Dance. They've been around a while & are good. https://saharadance.com/

Me too. Trying and see! The effort is what makes it exercise I’m afraid. Or Pilates.

OP here. Barre looks to me like either basically a barre (without the technique) or barre work plus Pilates-style mat work. It doesn't look like anything dancey or movement-oriented. Wrong?

It’s not actually dancing, no, although you can try cardio barre classes which have more dance elements to them. It is generally similar to the barre work in ballet in a less uptight setting and frequently to more fun music. I do enjoy it, which is what I thought you were asking about. I also enjoy the results. I personally enjoy it more than water aerobics or swimming, but you may not.
