I emailed Customer Service awhile back, asking to make it an option to choose EZPass when ordering a car. I got no traction then. Wonder if I would do better now? More and more freeways are getting rid of toll booths altogether - it's all electronic tolling now. And don't get me started on trying to explain to then EZPass Flex... |
If they have an EZ-Pass Flex. Not all drivers live in VA and have EZ-Pass Flex |
Anyone can get an EZ-Pass Flex. You don’t need to be a resident of VA. And OP’s point was if you’re going to be driving in VA for a living, then they need to have one. |
Why would someone need to get another EZ-Pass (Flex) when they already have one? When they don't need a Flex for the other 2 jurisdictions in the area and even most of the tolls roads in VA? Do you know how Uber and Lyft work? Their driving can sometimes take them to VA (i.e. drop-off at the airports) and from there they receive pick ups. It's not because "they are going to drive in VA for a living", but it's because their jobs unfortunately take them to VA. |
They wouldn’t need two EZ-Passes, they just need a flex pass and it works anywhere that EZ Pass is accepted on the East Coast. If an MD driver drops someone off in VA then they can just as easily drive back to MD/DC and start accepting fares. But if they are going to pick up rides in VA, they should have a Flex Pass to make the ride quicker for the driver and passenger. That lets the driver then go on and pick up more fares and make more money. Not sure why you wouldn’t get that and are so vested in arguing against it. |
Again, if they already have an EZ-Pass why would they need to get a Flex? when as you said the EZ-Pass is accepted everywhere on the East Coast? How many times a MD driver would probably be using the I66? Once, maybe twice every blue moon. |
| OP here is a solution- get yourself an EZ-pass. When you get in the car show them your EZ-pass and take 66 |
If they are going to drive Uber or Lyft pretty frequently. But what makes it much easier is - don’t pick up fares in Va! Then no one has to worry about it and it’s a win win. |
You can't share EZpasses. |
| Don't blame the Uber drivers for stupid Virginia OP. Instead of ranting here, write to your new stupid Governor who has a savior complex. |
Exactly. If you are going to take fares to or from VA, you should have the basic ability to drive on the roads there. An EZ Pass Flex and basic understanding of the major roads seem like the bare minimum expectation here. Otherwise, just don’t accept the fare. But it shouldn’t come at my expense as a customer. |
