Is 150 a guess, or do you know this for sure? |
| ^ umd website... "Each fall, we welcome about 150 new Banneker/Key Scholars to campus." |
I wonder if this means 150 offered or 150 students attending, which would mean more offered. |
More offered. 150 kids attending. |
| The email from UMD says only the top 2% of all applicants are invited to interview. I wonder how many EA applicants they had this year. |
I've found with other schools that these numbers aren't super accurate...even if it was 30,000, 600 seems like a large number to interview, although I imagine some do turn it down. |
| So if our DC hasn’t gotten one of these emails by now it’s not going to happen? Or is it staggered? (I’d had my hopes up) |
Not happening. |
| My DC - Class of 2023 is a BK full Scholar. This includes Tuition+boarding+book allowance. About 100 students get full scholarship and equal number get partial scholarship. |
Where else did DC get accepted? How about his/her BK friends? |
Thank you, I’m jus wondering when the decision comes out for the class starting in the fall. |
| OP here answering my own question... UMD says merit awards announced around March 1 |
but they also confirmed Banneker Key semi-finalist letters have already been sent out
|
I assume to let students know if it is full or 1/2 . |
No, so far just to invite them for interviews. My understanding is that the interview determines whether they'll give you the full or half. (No pressure, though!) |
