Iron supplement for teen daughter suggestions

Sounds like she tried calling the doc and hasn't gotten a response. And, actually, throughout the history of womenhood, 'crowd sourcing the mommies' has been an effective way for women to communicate and gather information when problems arise.

This is what my daughter takes as well. No constipation and her iron levels went up significantly

Oh give me a break. It’s an iron pill. Doctors don’t usually care about brands.

This is the only one I can tolerate. Easy to digest, doesn’t taste bad.

Vitamin C is such a wonderful addition since it increases the absorption of all vitamins and minerals.

Nature Made Iron Gummy

Nature made are the ones I personally tolerate best; no idea why. But it’s a good brand. Giant Carrie’s it.

DD, a distance runner, supplements iron with this: https://www.amazon.com/ORZAX-Supplement-Technology-Bioavailability-Non-Constipating/dp/B096WK4JLG/ref=sr_1_5?crid=1PBHL3ABT2310&keywords=liposomal+iron&qid=1674782661&sprefix=Liposomal+iron%2Caps%2C119&sr=8-5

She switched from a generic brand last track season as she was having some GI issues. She reports that this switch did help resolve those. And she had a very successful running season so we will give some of the credit to the shift.

As an aside, I highly recommend that parents of DDs make sure to have ferritin levels checked at least annually, especially if they are runners and even more so if they experience any sudden performance changes that they attribute to feeling constantly sluggish or exhausted. Female runners should be looking at ferritin levels above 30, ideally 40 or higher which is quite a bit higher than what is considered acceptable as a low normal range in test results.

Will she eat spinach in a smoothie? Or the seaweed snacks?

We take this iron infused water. My daughters tolerate it (after having issues with both Slow Fe, a really foul tasting liquid, and a chewable iron supplement) - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00V6Q3XTC/

Tastes fine mixed in OJ, which helps with absorption.

BUT it is expensive and has a fairly low dose.

I'm an adult and I have to take an iron supplement. I HATE iron pills. They just make me really feel blechy afterwards. I just take iron gummies. They seem to work as well and I can swallow them. Make sure to up your fiber as well. Iron supplements are very binding/constipating.

Not all. See the recommendations above, especially for Vitron C

My kids (elementary and middle school) take Novaferrum Yummy liquid iron, raspberry flavor. No stomach problems.

I cannot take iron supplements and an unfortunately quite anemic. The ONLY iron supplement I can tolerate is Feosol:
https://www.allstarhealth.com/de_p_ref/61302/pla61302/Feosol_Complete_with_Bifera_28mg.htm?utm_source=google&utm_medium=GPS&utm_campaign=61302&gclid=CjwKCAjw1YCkBhAOEiwA5aN4ATmin6weK2O7Dcuj8Io82y5IysOjcsOgA-cgBV0TRdETVWgBttsJzxoClh8QAvD_BwE

It is not alot of iron, but i figure it better than taking nothing and it doesn't cause stomach problems for me.

Ask your doctor how much training they received in different iron supplements or nutrition, in general.

I've taken a CVS brand iron supplement off and on over a couple of decades without side effects (e.g., constipation).

Take it with some orange juice to increase the absorption.
