MSL? Lol. Arlington was offered full MLS Next and turned it down for this year. I don't think the academy coaches were entirely happy about turning it down - although MLS Next is only a shadow of the old DA, but that was the club decision - and part of it was about keeping the girls in ECNL.

Arlington's younger teams are getting smoked by MLS Next club teams. This tells you where things are headed. So if MLS Next is a shadow of the old DA, what does that make Arlington going forward? Rivals with BRYC and SYC's second team (VA Union?)

If so, you have failed to udnerstand what makes clubs successful. Clubs do not become successful by attracting the top talent. They become successful by attracting the best coaches, who both develop talent and whose teams outperform. And then talent moves to those clubs to seek out the coaching - but talent moves because of coaching and the results it produces, not the other way around.

You could take the best fifteen players in the DMV and send them all to one place and they would still lose to a team composed of the next best fifteen players with a superior coach.

It's the same blather from you every time, and it is tired and overtaken by events. You are simply wrong at younger ages, and the parents who see their kids playing top boys teams know it. If you don't, so be it. Arlington has done really well at very young ages for a long time, with those players declining over time as they play teams who are taught properly at younger ages. Despite an enormous player pool from which to draw, many of their top younger players either do not progress or go elsewhere U13 up. For a long time, Arlington may have been able to retain or pick up players whom DCU would not select (and believe me, they are not necessarily perfect in their selections) and pick up kids from SYC and Alexandria and elsewhere. Those days are fading for older teams and gone for younger ones. Other clubs have excellent coaches, and knowledgeable parents know it and are selecting accordingly. I think the biggest task for Arlinton -- very sincerely -- is to clean house among younger groups and let the academy coaches run the whole show. Others parents look at how Arlington plays at younger ages, and for the most part, it has not been pretty for a long time. I'd love to see them do better, as should everybody in the area.
