"Before moving to Arlington, I left a club that was used to having national champions every year. With the move, I went to a club that didn’t even really focus on girls’ soccer. I know the Reign are way more advanced than that, but no matter how great you are, there are still areas that we can improve and build that game and brand even more and be proud of what we are doing because it will come from our work as coaches, staff, & players. I think that’s what I’m most excited about.” YIKES
Given that they sacrificed the boys to get the girls into ECNL that seems a little harsh.
Arlington sacrificed the girls to ECNL so boys had some game. The Arlington boys didn't make MSL and that is the truth.
MSL? Lol. Arlington was offered full MLS Next and turned it down for this year. I don't think the academy coaches were entirely happy about turning it down - although MLS Next is only a shadow of the old DA, but that was the club decision - and part of it was about keeping the girls in ECNL.
Arlington's younger teams are getting smoked by MLS Next club teams. This tells you where things are headed.
1. This isn't really true. 2. Even if it were, it wouldn't matter. Arlington's younger teams were never as strong as the older teams. Arlington's strength is its academy coaching team, and as long as they retain the coaches they will continue to do just fine. And - FWIW - I'm not an Arlington parent or coach or employee.
So if MLS Next is a shadow of the old DA, what does that make Arlington going forward? Rivals with BRYC and SYC's second team (VA Union?)
You clearly have an anti-Arlington agenda. I don't know why. Frustrated SYC parent, or coach? Desperate to convince others that you are "the destination"? If so, you have failed to udnerstand what makes clubs successful. Clubs do not become successful by attracting the top talent. They become successful by attracting the best coaches, who both develop talent and whose teams outperform. And then talent moves to those clubs to seek out the coaching - but talent moves because of coaching and the results it produces, not the other way around. You could take the best fifteen players in the DMV and send them all to one place and they would still lose to a team composed of the next best fifteen players with a superior coach.
