Do moms really judge each other over how they dress and look?

Anonymous
I don't judge, but definitely notice and note certain choices I wouldn't make.

For instance I notice a lot of middle-age women wearing thin snug knit shirts or just ill-fitting clothes instead of thinking about what might actually look best on them. There's so many options and you can find cheap quality clothes if you're looking.

Or when I see people wearing clothes widely out of place for an event or activity. Like showing up for a hike dressed like a summer picnic.

I’m a mom who is definitely visual and into fashion. I like tarte leisurewear, Athleta joggers, and Gucci bags. I get Botox and fillers and hair appointments every 6 weeks. I love to hike, hot yoga, and exercise.
I wouldn’t choose not to be friends with someone who is dressed in illfitting clothes and not groomed, but I would notice. I like to talk about this stuff and think you might judge me if you look a hot mess or are overweight.

This!

Do you live in Boulder? I do and I definitely notice this. People are heavily into the “laid back” but extremely fit look.

I hope not. I'm just trying to survive over here.

Athleta sweatpants/joggers and Gucci bags sounds pretty basic.

I rarely notice what other people are wearing. I barely notice what I’m wearing half the time.

I’m always neat and put together but only because I usually stick to a pretty basic ‘uniform’ which changes based on the season or if I’m in the office vs. WFH. I just don’t care as much as I used to. Have bigger things to worry about.

Hi Boulder PP- I live here too and yes everyone is super fit. At least it seems that way. I’m totally average size or even ‘thin’ when I travel back to the Midwest but it Boulder I feel huge.

I’m in fantastic shape. I’m a personal trainer and I teach hot yoga. I would feel really sad for you for being so ridiculously obsessed with your appearance and your possessions. You kinda miss the whole purpose behind a yoga practice. It’s much more than the asana. You might dive deeper into the Eight Limb Path. If you don’t know what that is, you’re not practicing yoga.

I judge no one at morning drop off, pajamas if you must.

But if I see you past noon looking sloppy and wearing leggings with cat hair stuck to them, I will judge you.

Unless you are pregnant or have kids under 5. You get a pass to look terrible without judgement
