this would be great.

Anything that requires less travel for regular season league games is what I advocate for. Ridiculous to miss school at the high school level when balancing AP courses, etc.

Is the title of the discussion wrong? Should it read CCL/ODSL or CCL/NCSL merger?

I think odsl already folded

Suburban Friendship League is the new ODSL.

This thread is certainly a joke but lets look at the thought exercise of it for a moment.

CCL is under USYS and ECNL-R is under US Club soccer.

There will be no merger.

Clubs are free to join and leave leagues at their discretion. Many clubs may even have teams represented in leagues run by both governing bodies.

Even if CCL and ECNL-R wanted to orchestrate such a merger it would certainly mean the dissolution of one of the leagues. Once the league dissolves the clubs have no obligation and are free to apply to and join any league they wish. CCL would have to go club by club and gain consensus to guarantee that ECNL-R would gain the clubs they hope to gain.

Frankly, it would be easier for ECNL to approach the clubs they feel would be good additions and fill needed geographic areas and competition levels than it would be to try and work through CCL on down.

Everyone will be under US Club soccer and it’s happening. NCSL, VSLI, CCL, Skyline (joke if a league anyway) will all become US CLub. The top teams will be ECNL RL and the rest will go NPL. Rush, FC Richmond, Vbr (terrible on the girls side) will go south. CCL Regional League will go west npl and north npl. I feel sorry for some of these clubs as they’re better than the bottom end of the north and south but they’re the little ones thrown aside. Less travel for the north but more travel for the south and the west doesn’t exist.

It isn't happening because a league can't guarantee that clubs will follow. CCL has expanded in the Northeast as well as the Southeast. I'm not sure what CCL gains by joining ECNL-R and disbanding. ECNL-R doesn't necessarily gain those CCL clubs simply because they are free to do what they want to do.

That is why the post is a joke and it is hilarious seeing people take a fake rumor as serious.

No clue about this one, but I have seen several fake rumors on here turn out to be true. I've also seen fake rumors turn out to be false.

in this case it is false. Leagues don't own the clubs. There can be no "merger" when the parties talking cannot guarantee club following. If this had any traction there would be far more rumor leaks because the clubs all have a say in whether or not they would participate. CCL would likely have to dissolve and what would they gain by doing that? They have clubs in their leagues, they have grown and fill a niche.

It’s true and happening.

Remember when CCL was the shiny new car on the lot? Now it is the hooptie that is parked in the corner of the back lot.

Suburban Friendship League is great and well-run and enjoyed by rec teams. No need to insult them like that.
