Pretty much exactly as I stated. The people in the bubble seem absolutely aghast at the thought of people walking around, shopping and going to school without masks. It is happening probably in probably more areas than not these days and is not cause for alarm, as other posters on this thread have demonstrated. |
This. Agree that it's stupid at this point, but this is where we are thanks to people who have acting recklessly for 2 years now. |
Your seconds passing by a person does not constitute high-risk behavior, and your hyperbole is pretty much useless in trying to make your point. |
Oh it’s the government. Testing should have been better and sick leave should have been better. This is bigger than individuals. |
It's funny how you don't deviate from your script no matter what people say. I split my time between MoCo and Eastern NC, where I grew up. There's zero masking there. I don't wear a mask there, because it seems silly. I'm plainly not aghast. Yet, I don't decide that the rules don't apply to me or yell at restaurant workers here, because I'm not a POS. |
Agreed. And only some places enforce this in MoCo anyway. I’ve been in some restaurants where nobody cares an ounce if you’re masked. If people are taking their masks off to eat, then it’s ridiculous to make an issue of it when they are not eating. |
Imagine what will happen if MoCo passes the vaccine passport. Surely things will improve for the poor employees, who already are stretched thin. |
+1 My husband and I eat in restaurants. We laugh because we wear our mask for the first 20 feet/10 seconds and then we take the mask off and eat and drink for an hour. It’s theater and everybody knows it. But we would never be disrespectful or disobey a mandate or restaurant rule. |
You have a strange definition of “just fine.” There were 443,000 new infections yesterday and 2,600 new deaths. Yesterday alone. Perhaps instead of masks we should lock down for real? |

I just go to the restaurants that agree w me that wearing a mask to/from a table is stupid. Or go to VA, which is also sn easy option based on living in Glen Echo.
It’s all good. You chose you…,Let the market decide which businesses survive. |
There have been no better outcomes per capita in death rates in areas with strict lockdowns and mask policies compared to those without. Areas with high vaccinated rates/versus low and deaths, yes, there is a good argument to be had, but the rest of it is nothing more than a feel good, meaningless, visual reminder for everyone to be afraid and think the gov is doing something useful to combat COVID. Do you really think locking down some stores but keeping some open was accomplishing anything? It just concentrated everyone into the few stores that were open. Get your vaccine. Live your life. Mask if it makes you feel better, but your cloth mask we find out 2 years later is pretty much useless, so be sure to get your N95 and wear it properly. |
| The problem at this point is the violence — explicit or implicit— behind the anti- maskers. |
At this point, I am okay with that. More than okay honestly. |
Did you even read what was written? I was agreeing with everything you said, agreeing that if that is the rule, then people should abide, disagreeing with the people not masking in the restaurant. You seem to want to disregard what is said in order to be argumentative for no reason. The people in the bubble are the ones who haven't been to various areas and seen that it is not the end of the world to go into a restaurant unmasked. By the reactions of SOME on this thread, they are clearly aghast at the idea of going anywhere unmasked. Jeesh. |
