Explain wealthy men and mail order brides

There is a significant number of men who just want a somewhat attractive but very submissive wife, one who is not particularly intelligent or confident or opinionated.

Some guys can find that in the usual ways, but if a guy doesn't have a lot of time but does have a lot of money, why not just buy one?

I know an older man who did this, it was the only relationship he could make work. I think it's easier for poor international women to appear mysterious, rather than poor but pretty US women, who may end up looking ignorant.

A beautiful 35 and under American woman with anything else going for her wouldn't go for a man in his 60s.

A beautiful 35 and up American woman with other things going for might, but these guys want someone younger than her.

So the choice is between a hot but trashy/ignorant young American woman who will embarrass him, or a hot young foreign wife who will appear classier/more intelligent or at least less obvious. A bonus is that he can exert more control over her by threatening to send her back.

It's not about being submissive or being poor. Submissiveness was never true, and poverty desperation marriages (at least in Russia) happened in the 90s. Due to fewer eligible men than women in E. Europe, many women don't see a significant age difference as repulsive.

If you speak from experience, I can't argue with you as I don't have one like that.

My observation is that nowadays, attractive E. European women do just fine in their birth countries and don't need to use the mail-order bride route.
