Explain wealthy men and mail order brides

I attended a friend's wedding where I met his father and a 3 of his father's friends. All wealthy, all educated (M.D.s and JDs.) and all married to much younger, very attractive second wives from Russia, Belarus, or Ukraine. I can understand going for mail order if you don't have any prospects here and are basically exchanging citizenship for a relationship but why do that if you are educated and wealthy? I though mail order brides were mostly thing of the past.

I was moderately attractive, not super hot in my twenties and I would have barfed at the thought of dating a forty years old and my friends would had made terrible fun of me, let alone 65 year old grandpa. Someone beautiful in the us that would marry grandpa would probably be poor and not as educated, or a sugar baby, so not unlike a mail order bride.

As for gold diggers, my beautiful twenty something friends that were materialistic aimed for men in their twenties and thirties in good professions. Why go for the 65 year old doctor when you can go for the 35 year old one.

Once she's here 2 years, her provisional green card can be converted to a real one. He can't do anything after that. Then she can apply for citizenship after being here 5 years if she wants to, or just stay on a green card.
