Shouldn’t the Board be having an emergency session? Shouldn’t they be concerned about the lack of leadership in MCPS?

I am stunned by their silence and lack of response.

Really? You need to pull your head out of the sand then. They've been meeting almost non-stop trying to deal with this mess, but sadly all those open at all cost parents have made their job very difficult.

Okay. When is the last open meeting they have had? When is the last meeting they have had that has addressed school violence? When is the last meeting they have had that has addressed COVID?

Every quote from students say that they don’t feel safe at school and their response has been to put their heads in the sand about student safety while they spend all their time talking up their racial equity agenda. Seems like their have their priorities off.

Should I assume your questions are rhetorical? It’s clear you know how to use the interwebs so you must know how to check the MCPS BOE schedule and access to their webcasts, right?

They address Covid in every meeting. Trust me. If you were paying attention you would know this.

As for students safety, maybe you should take that up with the Montgomery County Council that decided that our children didn’t need to feel safe or protected and defunded the police (SROs) this academic year. Wasn’t the BOE that did that it. Hell, principals wanted them in schools, but Jawando decided he knew better.

Jawando is the biggest hypocrite of them all. He has no credibility until he sends his own kids to MCPS, a non-W especially.

Answer the question. Funny that you resort to name calling and yet refuse to answer the question.

All of the recent meetings they have had have been in the FY23 operating budget. They have not even bothered to consider that there is a need for a special session to address all of the problems evident in the current school year that parents and students are most concerned about.

They prefer to pretend that they don’t exist because they prefer to keep their head in the sand, otherwise it would distract from their ulterior motives. They have spent more time discussing the equity action plan over the past weeks than student safety. That is a fact.

Absolute joke.

This. Most voters don't care. I understand sort of -- a lot of voters don't have kids so they really don't pay attention to the BOE elections.

I voted for non-incumbents but my vote is nothing against the powerful teacher's union.

We moved our kids to private and happy we did so. Even if there was a revolution in the BOE, due to staggered election cycles it would take 6+ years to get even a simple majority of BOE members replaced. My kids will be nearly out of school then.

Brenda Wolff, who is the president of the BOE, is up for re-election this year. If she were to get defeated it would probably scare enough of them to fall in line.

Who will defeat her? No one has filed to run against her. Last time she was unopposed.

Clearly you refuse to do basic research. The last general board meeting was 1/13. There were Operating Budget sessions and hearings last week. Seriously there is a whole section dedicated to the BOE on the MCPS website. Includes meeting dates, link to agendas, video of meetings, etc. Etc.

Apparently some people on this board feel they could do better. I’m waiting to see their name on a ballot.

You know the answer which is why you are talking in circles.

Terrible, incompetent and morally bankrupt people.

For the sake of this county, it’s children and economic future, these people need to go. Starting with Brenda Wolff.

And that is how we are where we are. Incompetent people allowed to run critical organizations into the ground without question or challenge.

Umm what questions have you asked have not been answered. Let’s review the ones from above:
1) Shouldn’t the Board be having an emergency session? Asked an answered. No. What would this special session be about??
2) Shouldn’t they be concerned about the lack of leadership in MCPS? Since they are part of the leadership and talking toMcKnight constantly I would think not. Given that principal and teachers are about as closed to quitting as possible and there is a shortage, I’m going to guess they aren’t icing fights here unless necessary.
3) When is the last open meeting they have had? When is the last meeting they have had that has addressed school violence? When is the last meeting they have had that has addressed COVID? The last BOE meeting on 1\13. Not to mention the Operating Budget hearing were they also heard from the community.

So again we the community will ask, have you not been paying attention?

Umm. The board pleads for the National Guard to drive in kids, whines how they don't have enough teachers / subs, has a no-confidence MCEA vote against them, a 21K virtual parent petition, and is still clueless why it should meet?

2) Shouldn’t they be concerned about the lack of leadership in MCPS? Since they are part of the leadership and talking toMcKnight constantly I would think not. That assumes it's a done deal that McKnight will be the permanent Superintendent of Schools, which I believe is another point of meeting - to reconsider that decision.

Meeting and taking action are different, but I can see how the board could be confused by that.

Meeting and taking action are different, but I can see how the board could be confused by that.

This is a good reply. The PP is mendacious and clearly works for MCPS or is a Board member.

For example, they refuse to explicitly say when the last time the BOE took up the issue of student safety despite students begging and pleading with them that they don’t feel safe at school.

Also, if a shooting of a student in a school should not prompt emergency action from the Board, it further reinforces that this BOE cares nothing of student safety at all and refuse to address the issue. Instead they have been prioritizing their time on the equity action plan. This is a reflection of the BOEs priorities. Politics over keeping kids safe.
