Clarifying question about masks in VA schools

I'm just thinking ahead for if there are confrontational parents there, I don't want them to see/hear any of that.

Or god forbid, a crazy one does show up with a gun and sends the school in lockdown, you know?

Not for a minute. If anything happens, it'll give us something to talk about at dinner.

They do this when "practicable". That's what the law requires.

Yes, the CDC recommendations are just that....recommendations. The state law that requires school districts to implement those recommendations to the greatest extent possible is not a recommendation.

So are the CDC quarantines and isolation periods also recommendations?

If parents don’t want to isolate their kids can they send their kids in?

You really think parents who oppose masking care about other CDC recommendations? They will not be moved by this argument because they literally don’t care and believe they are invincible.

Nah. Our governor has decided that lawlessness is good for business.

As a former CEO of the Carlyle Group, he knows all about what's good for business.

Always makes me laugh....Governor and his good friends always want "law and order".

His order is also very poorly drafted. Who are the incompetent fools working for him?

+ 1 So much this!

Hopefully this one isn’t a fan of burning crosses to keep uppity people in line like the last one was.

No. It’s a legit question. Can parents decide which guidelines they follow now?

The law requires that school systems mitigate risk to the greatest degree practical in order to keep schools open. Many schools are offering outdoor lunch. That may not be the exact language, but it's close enough.

Quarantines and masks are two important ways of doing that. They aren't mandating testing except for athletes, but they are offering and encouraging it. Maintaining more than 3ft of distance is one that is very hard in most APS schools and therefore isn't one that is practical or possible.

No, Youngkin will be much more subversive in his racism.

He also could have just waited a month until the Omicron surge died down. It's not like most parents want their kids in masks forever. I just want schools to stay open. I thought that's what people were so pissed off about to begin with.

At pickup I only saw one kid come out without a mask. Of course he got into a “don’t tread on me” car.
