I tried something similar; I would go a couple of times per week without eating for a whole day, so 36 hours. I would typically eat on Monday, have dinner around 7 pm, then nothing until Wednesday morning.
I had no issues doing it, except once. I did end up with less appetite and controlled my hunger, as I was not hungry. I am a crazy Orthodox Slav. It was not worth it; my coughing did not stop in the end, my back still hurt like nuts. I would lose weight, but it was not permanent, and in the end, my teen DD watched me and started to emulate me, and I caused her a colossal eating disorder. Now I eat normally, don't count calories I am still the same weight as then but can't take back the damage I did to my DD. So, there were no benefits, and the only thing my family has due to my insanity is a young woman with an eating disorder in therapy. Bravo me! Don't be me! Do better. |
| I like your idea. I’m going to try it and report back. |

I’ve done IF and OMAD. I agree with the PPs who have noted that your calories are WAY too low. If you decide to do OMAD or two meals a day, you should be eating a normal day’s amount of healthy foods / balanced meals. What you are doing now is likely to have the opposite impact — as your undernourished body seeks responds to a self-imposed famine.
Wishing you well as you explore sustainable, healthy eating habits that work well for you. |
| Yes. It was before I was hospitalized for the eating disorder. |
No, no this is not healthy. |
