Closed or virtual? FCPS is virtual.

Closed. Then the next one we do virtual. I think we had 6 "weather" days before flipping. So the next one would be virtual.

Trust me, I hope they go! My kid needs the routine of school and is still very much behind from the pandemic year. But I am also trying to be realistic.

It wouldn't be a real snow day anyways. It's not like kids can go sled. It's just a messy commute day in an already short week in a month when kids ha e already had very little school. If APS can't manage a 2 hour delay they should try virtual. Use it as a test day to iron out the kinks.

I feel like if this had been after our sixth snowday, it would’ve been no question to go virtual for safety. The timing of the snow as wet socks. It’s such a low amount and hardly will do much but will impact road safety. 2022 is no joke.

There have been a lot of teachers (and students) out in the last week. I don't see how they'll have the staff if a lot of teachers whose kids go to FCPS call in.

If they do decide to delay or close do we think they’ll call tonight or tomorrow at 5am?

Their website says they are closed tomorrow.

I'm glad they're announcing it now. And I'm glad that they are being cautious. It is easy for the rest of us to be back-seat drivers but we have to remember that the safety of the kids is the primary factor.

If it is icy, then some of the hilly streets are treacherous. Kids should not be on buses and they shouldn't be walking along roads with no sidewalks in those kinds of conditions to get to school because it is too dangerous.

It would be horrifying if a child was killed when we knew at least 12 hours in advance that the conditions could / will be dangerous.

Eh, my kindergartener hasn't had a school day with her teacher yet in 2022, just the assistant has been present. What's another day?
