Be honest… for the most disciplined among us, when did you last stray

FFS. No it's not. Eating a 14" thin crust pizza one time is not a pathological food issue.

I think the food issue PP is referring to is making a thread about eating a 14" pizza and acting like they've "strayed" from a perfect diet.

I'll round up to 1300.

A 10 inch pizza is 78 square inches, so 16.6 calories per square inch. A 14 inch pizza has 154 square inches, putting OP's pizza at about 2556 calories.

It's an indulgence, but not an outrageous binge. I'm glad you enjoyed it, OP.

You are seriously disordered if eating a 14 inch pizza as your “splurge” doesn’t seem problematic to you. Then posting about it. No idea how many calories are in as they can vary wildly depending on brand, crust, etc. I’m guessing since it was ordered from a pizza place it has a lot more calories than the frozen store bought varieties. But either way. This isn’t healthy eating behavior and likely stems from OP obsessing about macros everyday all day and then losing control and gorging.

It may not be a pathological food issue, but it certainly is a binge. OP, did you binge because you say, chemically enhanced yourself, or was that a purely pleasurable let go of food control. Or were you so hungry from depriving yourself your mind took a 5 minute break and your impulses took over?

Yes, I’ve struggled with binging in the past.

I strayed this weekend- over the course of a couple days, I had a few pieces of my favorite cake my mom makes me while I was visiting her. Gained a couple pounds in water weight that’ll fall off in a day or so. I don’t sweat it.

I would consider that a pathological issue. A couple pieces of pizza is a splurge, if you don't normally eat pizza. Eating an entire pizza entirely different.

A couple pieces of pizza is fine and not even a splurge. It's only a splurge if it results in consistent overeating.

There is a disturbing trend in this forum of obsession with food and there is a lot concerning behavior around here.

I have noticed this, too. Almost anything can be labeled "disordered" here. If someone says they are watching what they eat with the goal of losing weight, there is often some poster who will say that this is "disordered," regardless of what the person is eating.

OP here. This was helpful. It quantified it for me.

We ate a lot of trash and wine during our bout with covid because we couldn’t exercise. Definitely a sub optimal experience. Coming out the other side of that about 2.5 weeks in duration. Have not gained any weight but have lost some fitness.

It’s totally fine to deviate for short periods of time. It confirms why eating all that garbage is not that great to begin with.

The amount OP ate is actually not unusual in our society.

Ex- if you go to Shake Shack and get a double-stack, cheese fries and an Oreo shake, that is 2,300 calories. For me, that would be a binge and make me physically sick, but for many that would just be a treat meal.

It's so tedious, how some posters look at one example and declare someoje disordered. OP ate the caloric equivalent of a burger and fries with a beer.

OH shut up. OP ate a pizza. She said it was the first time she had a pizza in 2 years. Not a big deal.

This would be a disorder if OP denied themselves pizza for 2 years and then ate pizza until it was painful/they felt like vomiting/etc. If OP was full but kept eating pizza bc “I won’t have it again for 2 years!” then yea that is technically mildly disordered eating.

I actually don’t think a 14” pizza is that bad. I could eat one myself pretty comfortably. I do think it’s kind of sad that OP is that obsessed with food and macros and denies themselves a food they like then finally eats it and “confesses.” Like, what kind of life is that?

Problematic would be doing that everyday for every meal for months and years on end. People here are totally off their rocker.

Now if it’s a bottle of wine, that’s probably ok.

What a world.

What's sad is only eating pizza once every two years! If I only ate the typical DCUM diet of lean protein and vegetables (twice a day, no dairy, no carbs, no snacking allowed!), I would weigh 90 pounds.

A 14 inch pizza is not that large, sorry. This is what I usually order for myself (115 pound woman) and I would have no trouble finishing it. I wouldn't eat pizza every day, but don't consider it "straying" to have pizza 10 or 12 times per year. My body needs a calorie bomb sometimes even though I'm not very restrictive on a normal basis (typically eat around 2000 calories if I had to guess).

I have that next to never (once every few months) so I don't feel bad when I indulge. But I also didn't go to taco bell and eat four chalupas, nachos and a crunchwrap, I had two supreme soft tacos. I think if you are so restricted that when you 'stray' you binge eat you should perhaps figure out a better relationship with food.

The 'most disciplined' people have eating disorders.

Two supreme tacos is only 420 calories. Hardly an indulgence.

I added spicy ranch! But I’m all seriousness that is kind of my point. Two slices of pizza is about the same. I don’t deprive myself of pizza or the occasional taco so I never end up eating an entire pizza. A mid day 500 calorie splurge is actually a pretty big treat for me as I’m usually only two meals a day.

It isn’t the calorie amount that makes something an indulgence. A piece of
cake is an indulgence to me. I don’t eat cake daily. It is a special occasion food. It probably has 300-400 calories. Is it not an indulgence unless I binge and have 6 slices or 2000+ calories worth of cake? I can’t imagine eating 2500 calories on any one thing at once. Sorry but that is
