Be honest… for the most disciplined among us, when did you last stray

I ask, because I ate a pizza last night. A whole 14 inch gluten free margherita pizza. It was my first in two years. Man was it good!

Last one was dinner today. One before that was lunch today… one before that was…

There is a difference between straying from your normal heathy choices and all out gorging. Eating a 14 inch pizza alone isn't a stray, that is pathologic food issue.

It may not be a pathological food issue, but it certainly is a binge. OP, did you binge because you say, chemically enhanced yourself, or was that a purely pleasurable let go of food control. Or were you so hungry from depriving yourself your mind took a 5 minute break and your impulses took over?

Yes, I’ve struggled with binging in the past.

I strayed this weekend- over the course of a couple days, I had a few pieces of my favorite cake my mom makes me while I was visiting her. Gained a couple pounds in water weight that’ll fall off in a day or so. I don’t sweat it.

I would consider that a pathological issue. A couple pieces of pizza is a splurge, if you don't normally eat pizza. Eating an entire pizza entirely different.

I really don't consider anything 'straying'. I overall eat well so I don't really worry at all that I had taco bell yesterday afternoon. I have that next to never (once every few months) so I don't feel bad when I indulge. But I also didn't go to taco bell and eat four chalupas, nachos and a crunchwrap, I had two supreme soft tacos. I think if you are so restricted that when you 'stray' you binge eat you should perhaps figure out a better relationship with food.

The 'most disciplined' people have eating disorders.

My DS' birthday on New Years Eve. I ate a slice of double chocolate cake.

FFS. No it's not. Eating a 14" thin crust pizza one time is not a pathological food issue.

A couple pieces of pizza is fine and not even a splurge. It's only a splurge if it results in consistent overeating.

There is a disturbing trend in this forum of obsession with food and there is a lot concerning behavior around here.

OP here. It was definitely a binge, I’m just getting over covid and I’ve been craving carbs, even though most of the time, I try to limit to 100 grams of fruit veggie and gluten free bread or crackers each day. I usually avoid dairy too. But I just really really wanted a pizza. I found a gluten free place, and when it arrived I was like, well I’ll f’ing doing this, it’s been two years, so just eat, enjoy, and get back on track tomorrow. I don’t think it’s a food issue, but some on this board will say that I’m obsessed because I track my carb grams.

Let's do some pizza math. A 10 inch gluten free cheese pizza is 1280 calories: https://againstthegraingourmet.com/gluten-free-breads

I'll round up to 1300.

A 10 inch pizza is 78 square inches, so 16.6 calories per square inch. A 14 inch pizza has 154 square inches, putting OP's pizza at about 2556 calories.

It's an indulgence, but not an outrageous binge. I'm glad you enjoyed it, OP.
