If your school is red, are you sending your child tomorrow?

Yes, my first grader likes being in school. He's miserable and bored stuck at home. He's going to school--he's vaccinated and masked and keeping him at home in front of a screen all day while I work is detrimental to his well being.

Same, right down to the first grader. Teacher should be there since she was out with COVID the week before Christmas

Some of us tried to tell you before Christmas that schools had to pivot to virtual for January. But apparently things are easier to understand when they're color-coded. That was a genius idea of MCPS, their one and only...

There is no have to. That’s just what is happening in MOCO only. Even NYC schools are staying open

Nope, but that’s because he has COVID. Completely asymptomatic though.

The majority of people who were testing positive or asymptomatic.

I work at an elementary school that went from yellow to red today. Most classes had 1/4 to 1/3 of students out today, many kept at home by their parents. Teachers are not teaching anything new this week, because so many students are out. The classes being taught by paras or subs aren’t learning anything new. It is definitely NOT business as usual right now.

Now if I only can get him boosted finally (CDC approved, but pharmacies are still not making appointments), I would be happier.

Go to Procare Pharmacy in Clarksburg!! I got my youngest her second shot and my 14 yo her booster. It only took 15 minutes and they take walk-in's. Have your med. insurance card, driver's license and vaccination card. So quick and easy! Check the hours though. They are kind of funky.

Of course. My three elementary kids are fully vaccinated. Unless they wake up with symptoms (knock wood), they’ll go to school.

You know that none of the people testing positive today got sick at school, right?

Absolutely. I work in one of the red schools and I’m going in. Who’s going to watch then if they stay back? FWIW, they are in a yellow school.

We are still debating. Kids are 5 and 7 and we both work from home but are in meetings or are busy with work tasks. School bus was cancelled today so we drove them there and back along with a neighbor's child. Our school is solidly red on the list posted at 7 PM and there is no bus again tomorrow. On the one hand the kids benefit a lot from having a structured environment and they are both vaxed; on the other they both got really sick right before the holidays with a respiratory illness (non-COVID or flu) that took them out most of the holiday. This is such a hard choice to make.

Yes I am sending my child. She had a sub for one class but was still really joyful about it. She loves school. Loves her teachers. Loves her classmates. I will keep sending her (vaccinated) with an kf94 until they close. Which will be soon.

Maybe not, but there will be kids coming down with Covid in the next few days after being at school today!

Teach in a red elementary and sending my kids to their red middle school. Not a lot of choice there.

NO NO NO

MCPS said 5% and over not safe and now they are backtracking.

BCC is 7.3% - second worst in the county. No way is it safe.

MCPS is a total disaster. No consistent messaging, few safety precautions. no freaking buses and kids waiting out in the cold.
