Op here answering some questions. I add 1-2 tablespoons of cream.
I can't do regular milk. Same with nuts and seeds digestive issues. I already eat a full bowl. I was thinking I could add a side. Maybe adding yogurt will be enough. |
| I’ve always found that oatmeal just doesn’t stay with me, plus it gives me gnarly heartburn. Why not eat something different if you’re hungry? |

You can't have nuts but you can have almond milk?
I'd add ground flax seeds, extra fruit and a nut butter or an alternative like sun butter. |
I’m the PP who suggested almonds and I actually can’t eat them now due to worsening digestive issues. I can’t even eat oatmeal or fruit anymore. So, you have my sympathies. Also, I love maple syrup in plain Greek yogurt. |
| You can add Greek yogurt to overnight oats. That will add protein = more filling. |
| avocado toast or some kind of good morning muffin that fits your restrictions. |
| You can't have nuts, but you can have almond milk? Can you have nut butters - if yes, that would be best - easy way to add more calories, protein, and fat. |
OP here. Yes, I can have almond milk, but not whole unprocessed nuts, it's not an allergy, but I have a very hard time digesting whole nuts/seeds and end up with an upset stomach for days if I eat them. I am going to try the yogurt. Not sure about nut butter, haven't really tried those. Wouldn't the overpower the taste? |
| And in case you think the coconut is a nut, there’s always this nice song for a reminder: the coconut is not a nut 😀😜 https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=w0AOGeqOnFY |

protein oatmeal. add brown sugar, nuts and butter.

Do you have problems with diverticulitis? The whole nuts/seeds things makes it sound like it.
Can you scramble 2 eggs and add some cheese to it? That would amp up your protein and calories. Agree with the suggestions about the yogurt. Also, can you eat peanut butter? Because it is processed nuts you might be able to tolerate it. Peanut butter on apple slices would help with protein and fiber. |
| Butter, raisins, bananas. |

1-2 tablespoons of cream isn’t much - why not double the cream? Or peanut butter/Nutella/Sun butter. With my underweight kid we just add fat to everything. It usually makes things taste good but there is very little extra effort to the eating. A pat of butter on top of your oatmeal, along with some maple syrup, sounds really nice.
I’ve found that I do better simply responding to hunger rather than preventing it by eating more. If you are happy with your breakfast the way it is can you just have a snack when you get hungry a couple hours later? Cheese stick in your pocket or something? |
| Yeah, add peanut butter or some other nut butter. Also raw nuts like walnuts. |
