Golden Goose why do people wear them?

He wore it to a frat party a couple weeks later and it walked away. Buh-bye really expensive ugly coat.

LOL, you're thinking about Canada Goose.

I like them because I think you can express individual style with them since there are so many options, both in shoe style and pattern. Plus they are comfortable.

because they are idiots following a stupid trend. they are not cute at all. probably saw some celebrity wearing them or something.

Multiple posts thinking this is about coats and not shoes is why you should never take fashion advice from DCUM. They only know how to look like a middle aged mom.

Yep, this has been a train wreck, OP posts a smug rhetorical question and half the responses aren’t even up to her speed.

I’ve never owned GG, but I’ve owned similar priced shoes. I’ll believe they are comfortable and well made. Look at all the faux finish and distressing people enjoy in other products, like housewares at all price points. What’s so surprising about it in shoes or denim? Not to everyone’s taste, but some people enjoy these things, and sometimes the craftsmanship ship is top notch. Bonus, they don’t require a special occasion and don’t look overwrought.

I think they are fun sneakers, but think that most of the people I see wearing them around here look like they are trying way too hard.

The only thing analogous here is that both are more expensive. In the case of a luxury car, you do get more features for the premium price. This includes better handling and features. Luxury cars were the first to have GPS and also the first to have new safety features before they trickle down to other models. You actually get more for the price. Golden Goose is just a label and a design. There's no additional value added.

$500-$600 on a pair of ugly sneakers is just dumb!

For people who haven’t looked them up:

They always remind me of the nasty, outgrown sneakers at the bottom of teenager’s closet. Or my old sneakers I dig out of my basement once a year when I prep my garden. The ones that Goodwill won’t want, so I keep them out of guilt and not wanting to create more landfill junk by throwing them away or make them someone else’s problem.

I find it hilarious when I see people wearing them. I’ll sell ya my kid’s old sneakers for $500. A relative deal.

I didn't think anyone really did - except wanna be housewives.

To fit in with other people and be recognized as wealthy

They're not for me, but other people should wear what they want, within reason (e.g., would not be ok with someone walking around essentially nude in front of my tweens)

Eh, some of them are kind of cute, but I have a limited number of things that I can drop $400-$600K on, and that's not where I would allocate my limited resources.

You can try to pry my Canada goose out of my toasty warm dead hands.

Canada goose and golden goose are not equivalent.
