DD accepted. In state. 4.45 weighted gpa, 33 ACT, 14 AP classes, will have earned 13 varsity letters upon HS graduation, part time job, president of engineering club, Girl Scout Gold Award. I’m now a triple Hoo mom!

14 Varsity letters? How is that possible 3 seasons in 4 years of high school = 12 Varsity letters max. Clearly goes to public school if gpa is weighted.

I know a girl at our school who does two varsity fall sports.

13 varsity letters. One season she was able to participate in 2 varsity sports bc their schedules did not conflict. She is an amazing kid and her amount of energy both exhausts and awes me.

That is something. How does she manage to have a part-time job with sports AND scouting? My kid was always getting his work schedule at the next-to-last minute and ended up dropping CC.

I’m not sure that works either. What if your high school only offers 5 APs? Then you can’t compare a kid with 3 APs versus 11 — at least not equitably.

Do you think everyone tells the truth. Parents help kids to lie in the application about the activities...I am trying to say is not outright lie but kid will do robotics class one yr and write 4 yes and add some leadership role.

Few parents if my HS kid lied to get the Covid vaccine early. I work in health care my senior started to get upset that I didn't schedule his vaccine in March and one day I texted friends parents and guess what few of them told me.....just say yes to the requirements if asked say child volunteers at homeless shelter or teaches in preschool. If they can lie to get vaccine they can lie in the application.

Yeah, you’re right. Sadly.
I know that the fake non-profits are common, but it seems like it would be far more difficult to fake ECs and jobs. Maybe it’s all faked!

Can people stop doubting and questioning posters and be happy for their children if this is what they wanted?

It really doesn’t matter unless the stats are an outlier. High stats kid= crapshoot. Especially in NoVa. It would be more interesting if there was a large population of people posting throughout Virginia

Not really, 4.4+ and 1500+ = in

Yes but there will be people who come on with similar who DID NOT get in.

Not really, if your weighted GPA is above 4.4, you took a rigorous courseload, and your SAT is above 1440 it's not really a crapshoot at UVA. Look closely at the GPAs of denied--often it's 4.3 or <

DP. The amount of time most kids and adults waste on social media, video games, and just being unfocused and inefficient with their tasks is staggering. On the other side, you have this small percentage of kids who are very talented academically and extremely well organized. So, they are the ones who can spend two hours per day doing crew, compete at national level math, have 4.0 with a bunch of APs and manage to have a social life.
