Stop lifting so much heavy weight if you can't do it right

+1 nobody likes hearing weights slamming. Otherwise MYOB.

I get where OP is coming from. I feel like it's a trend now to lift very heavy, and I see a lot of people lifting so aggressively that I suspect they're going to hurt themselves.

Complain to the front desk about weight slamming
. Most gyms have rules against this.

The weight slamming annoying since all this 22-27 year old children are now powerlifters. That’s a valid beef.

OP also hates people who hang onto the handle on the treadmill.

They'll be using a machine to do the eccentric portion of the movement, but then completely let the machine go so that gravity does the work of returning the machine to its original position. Do y'all realize you're only getting half a rep done each time because you are failing to use good form to get good eccentric movement? You need to use a controlled form/motion during returning the machine to its original position. If you're the lat pulldown machine, for example, pulling down the bar is only half the exercise. You need to let the bar up with smooth controlled motion to get the other half of your rep. Letting gravity do the work for you by letting the lat bar fly up and using no muscles to control it is cheating yourself. Stop using so much weight if you can't muster good eccentric movements.

Stop thinking about and telling other people what to do. Please just focus on yourself. Nobody cares what you think unless I am paying you to tell me.

My former gym had signs everywhere near the weights. Didn’t do a thing about it, though. So annoying.

OP you care way too much about this. It's not your body, it's not your equipment, and you're not losing anything because of this "eccentric" behavior by others.

Why do you care so much that you had to come here to rant about it?

Because people are dumb. First off, when you don't use controlled eccentric movement, you risk injuring yourself. Secondly, I can't stand it when morons let the machine slam because they let gravity do all of the work instead of using well controlled eccentric movement....it ruins/breaks the machines/equipment.

You are wasting your time exercising if you can't do smoothly controlled eccentric movements. People use piss poor technique during the eccentric portion of an exercise because they're often lifting too much weight and only think they need the concentric portion of the exercise. Dumb.

again....why do you care!! This is not affecting you, or your actual quality of life! let them be "dumb".

It's affecting my ability to use a machine after them when they bend pins or guide bars, snap cables, or just generally beat the piss out of a machine because they are lifting too much weight and cannot do eccentric movements with proper form. It ruins the machine for everyone. Them looking like idiots when they flail around and let gravity do half their workout for them is just icing on the cake.

There are weights that are meant to be dropped (not slammed) in the Oly lifts. If some front desk teenager came up to be and told me not to drop the the weights after a snatch or C+J, when I'm using the proper weights and on the platform, I'd tell them to f&ck off and have the manager come talk to me

perseverating much?

Not as bad as the people who lean hunched over on the stair climber or walk uphill on a treadmill holding the machine.

Ok, the vast majority of people dropping and slamming weights at a regular gym are lame.

I have never seen any damaged equipment in all my years lifting. What kind of half ass planet fitness are you going to?

DP but we have a small gym at work with a universal. The cables are constantly coming off the tracks because people let the weights slam back down. Have to call maintenance each and every time. It’s annoying.
