Medium well burger at Silver Diner

This is 100% wrong.

There's nothing that builds up in your system. The risk is of acute food poisoning and pregnant people are advised to avoid foods with higher than normal rates of things like listeria, which can kill a fetus. You could eat 1000 bagged salads during a pregnancy and be totally fine. Or you could eat one, have really bad luck, and that one happened to be contaminated.

That is a false and utterly ridiculous claim.

Nope. Has nothing to do with being pregnant. Hamburger meat should always be cooked through to 160 degrees.

I hope you don’t eat spinach then. The horror!

I think you didn’t understand the previous post. She wasn’t suggesting listeria builds up in your system, just that every time you eat bagged greens, there’s a risk of E. coli, listeria, etc…. So if you eat one medium rare burger, the risk is tiny, but if you eat a rare burger every day for 10 months, there’s a bigger risk one of those burgers will make you sick.

This is not true.

A burger is not chicken.

Relax. And DH needs to back off big time.

Go watch The Great on Hulu. Catherine is basically chugging vodka the whole time she’s pregnant. A burger is beyond fine.

Your DH sounds annoying as heck

That’s not how risk/math works.

I ate a medium rare steak on Thanksgiving and I’m 20 weeks. If you are eating at a normal restaurant that follows health codes, you are fine. I don’t follow any of the “do not” eat guidelines (except alcohol and drugs).
