So, not full-pay

Schools will.give you merit based on your grades/scores. If my kid got merit ait (which is different that need-based aid, i wouldn't turn down the merit aid for what this pp might think it's bragging rights to be "full pay".

We applied as full pay and did not file a FAFSA.

Any merit aid? DD similar stats and we don’t qualify for need based but Syracuse just too much $$$$ for us.

For fall 2022 entry? We are waiting to hear from Syracuse (Newhouse) on our 3.8 weighted GPA kid with almost the exact same SAT. He applied early decision....

Um… in what world is a 3.7 “mediocre”? Get a grip.

Well 3.7W would be like 3.1UW….. so technically, the OPs DC is not stellar by any measure. Clemson Elon would be good choices for a B student.

I don't understand this math. If your kid only took 2 classes that were IB or AP or whatever, and they get As in those, that means they get 5 grade points right? Even with those, that isn't enough to take a GPA from 3.1 to 3.7 right? This is a legit question. I don't understand.

I believe MoCo weights every “honors” course, which most are. Privates don’t do this do smaller gap.

The PP is very confused. Or just trying to put down kids with a 3.7 - which is a very good GPA.

Oh, so jealous. My 3.9, 1500 SAT kid was rejected ED. He ended up BU Honors which is fine but he loved Tufts and was pretty depressed after getting rejected. He was thinking about trying to transfer but now he has some good friends and I don’t think he feels like starting over again.

Aside, but when you apply ED, does that mean you're applying full pay (or at least regardless of aid)?

No. You can apply ED and still need aid.

My 3.8ish (weighted) with a high ACT got into Skidmore, Lafayette, and Brandeis. Not URM, no hooks.
