HS AP Class question: What other AP class to pair with AP AB Calc (not social studies ones)

AP economics (micro or macro) might be a good fit.

I'm not sure what NSL is. As for AP English Lang I heard it was very intense. Wasn't sure if it would pair well with AP Calc AB for someone with executive function issues.

NSL is MCPS shorthand for American Government (National, State, Local)

He has to take English anyway so might as well take AP English Lang. instead of Honors English AND another AP class.

Is that a very difficult class to pair with AP AB Calc? He loves math so maybe that would be a good one?

My DD is in AP Calc A/B and AP Physics ! right now, I was worried about doing both at the same time but she is doing well in both. I think this is the way to go.

+1. AP Lang is focused on writing, not literature. Intensity may depend on the teacher.

Yes, my son never read a book in AP Lang. Kind of weird. AP Lit has at least some reading.

APES seems like a great class but the workload is not light. AP Stat is a lot of work, very fast paced. My kid is not a STEM kid but AP Lang is probably the least grueling AP he's done.

This, and it actually helps with formulating arguments, analysis and critical thinking.

Can anyone talk a little but about what AP Language entails? You say it is a lot of writing but isn't that very time-consuming? I assume lots of essays. Based on this thread it seems

AP Calc AB with EITHER AP Physics 1 or AP Language?

What about AP Pysch? Anyone have any input on that class?

Nope. They pair well. That physics class doesn’t assume too much calc.

At my kids' school AP Language & Comp focuses on non-fiction. They read some short memoirs plus long and short pieces.

AP psych is a lot of memorizing. It is more like bio (without labs) than a history class, though.

Our ADHD daughter was properly steered away from AP Psych because of the volume of reading and memorization.

I was told that at our school AP Lg is brutal and involves tons of writing and then tearing apart kids’ writing. I got the feeling it was hard for the sake of hard, but that might just be this school’s implementation.
