Lacrosse?

That's my guess.

One of the students behind the petition left Yorktown and is now at a DC private (this has been publicly reported) - so is it a resume-building exercise for college?

Likely.

Definitely not for building a resume. The student who started the position is doing this for all the right reasons and I think it’s very admirable. The changes that the students are asking for in the petition are completely reasonable, realistic and constructive. I don’t see why anyone would try to take these students down a notch with a cruel comment like that.

If it’s the right thing to do for the community, does it matter that she tangentially benefits too? Not to me.

This person should be focusing on wrongs at her own HS, not throwing stones at a public school sje could afford to leave. Though these changes are warranted, it is elitist, condescending and obnoxious.

That is a very strange response. You should reflect on why this petition is so triggering to you.

+1, except we didn't leave and are stuck at Yorktown, as our under-performer can't get into any private that we can afford. I still don't know what exactly happened at hoco or what's behind this petition, but the "bro" culture is the worst.

Some people will do anything to protect YHS' reputation and status and deny it is anything but fabulous and the absolute best HS that everyone wants to attend.

Anyone else find it very interesting that there are only a handful of comments about the petition on AEM? Want to speculate why when those folks are so vocal about everything that on this issue there is radio silence?

Because they don’t want to publicly question her motives and have the same accusations hurled at them as are being hurled in this thread. Anyone who has dared to question probably found their comments deleted.

Just for the hysteric and defensive comments here I'm worried there are some real teeth to the accusations. Sounds like some parents who know their kids are in the wrong are trying to circle the wagons by preemptively attacking the accusers

No, the point is that people haven’t been hearing of these things happening at YHS recently outside of the HC football game. If there has been a problem, parents need to hear specifics, not vague claims designed to prod people into signing a petition.
