And vent all you want. Venting helps

| I’m sorry OP. It sounds terrible. I hope you were able to find a Patient First. |
| I had a terrible time with recurrent mastitis. It is really miserable. I started taking lecithin everyday and it really helped with preventing mastitis. Good luck. Mastitis can get really ugly. Take care of yourself. |
Make better choices going forward, OP. Do a telehealth visit and get your antibiotics. |
+1 miserable. Especially if the antibiotics for mastitis cause thrush. It can really take you out. |
| Get antibiotics as soon as you can. |
Exactly - telehealth was made for this. |

Wow. My husband can be a real jerk about certain things, but since he's a doctor, he understood all the pregnancy and post-birth-related issues. I had mild mastitis, and he was there to help me.
I'm so sorry, OP. I would schedule the telehealth visit and have your husband sit down with you and listen to the doctor. Hope you get better soon! |
| Your husband is awful I’m sorry. Do you have a friend/sister/mom nearby who can pick up the Rx for you? A CVS that delivers? Eat whatever the costs are, order delivery and REST. I had a bout of mastitis that only started to clear up after I’d cobbled together eight hours of sleep. |
| Get a telehealth appt and have husband pick up meds on his way home, and tell him he’s in charge of kiddos for the rest of the day…. |

Most people do not understand how horrible mastitis pain is! I'm sorry!
There is really nothing he could do though (unless he's a doc and can prescribe you some antibiotics ). Sounds like a case of him not reading the room, vs being actually callous or cruel.
OP, I wish I hadn't said 99% of the words that came out of my mouth to my spouse at the nursing/early postpartum stage of life. Try to assume noble intent. |
I’ve had mastitis 6 times. ER for it once and urgent care once and they almost sent me t The hospital. It takes 24-48 hours for antibiotics to kick on. Last time I took antibiotics when it started coming on I still spiked a 103 fever and was deathly ill with chills 12-24 hours AFTER I popped the antibiotics. My doc keeps me stocked at home with them because it comes on fast and furious for me but it is no joke. I’m sorry OP. Sympathy from me for you, your DH sucks! |
| OP, even women who have nursed several babies may not realize how bad mastitis can get. A lot of people just have no clue. I went to a conference shortly after maternity leave and didn’t have a great place to pump and developed a terrible case of mastitis. And at subsequent family event, when DH explained why I was tired, my SIL could only give me terrible and patronizing advice, “Oh Honey, mastitis is no biggie, just have your baby nurse out the clog.” And MIL acted like I eas an idiot for not formula feeding. It was infuriating when you you have to deal with the pain, soreness, and fatigue even after getting antibiotics. |
| Mastitis for me felt like a sudden onset of a bad flu, plus someone was stabbing me in the breast and twisting the knife around all the time. And I went from fine to full in sick in like 2 hours. Just awful. But antibiotics made me feel better almost immediately. |

Your problem is that you married a man who golfs.
Feel better! |
