Just in case DC parents haven't heard, MCPS has had multiple violent incidents in its high schools since students returned to in-person learning. We've had several stabbings, and recently a 15 year old brought a gun to school and was made to surrender ammunition hidden in his clothes. |
| I’m a Wilson parent and am under no illusion that Wilson is the only school with problems but it doesn’t mean we downplay the seriousness of events like this. |
| This is horrible. Is it known that this student was targeted and not randomly attacked? |
Are we sure they were off campus and/or intending to go off campus? |
|
I haven't heard anything about this incident - appreciate the poster for the alert. The school hasn't issued a release of any kind.
Wison parent here |
| DC name the kid. If he named the wrong kid, then there were more incidences today. DC said he minds his own business and is not worried. I'm worried. DC thinks he is ok as long as he minds his own business. |
| Christ no. Do not name the kid. |
| Sorry to hear this. Kids are learning how to be students again and the social skills have eroded. Incidents are up everywhere. Hopefully things calm down next semester. |
This. Unfortunately these types of incidents occur frequently across high schools, but this doesn't mean that we should downplay the incident in *our* school. |
The original poster said her child was shaking at pickup. Someone else came along and sussed out from a parked car that all the other kids were just fine. She has no idea they were all fine. She has no idea who was fazed and unfazed. And, she doesn't know how kids should look/react when hearing this kind of news. So, I'd focus on what happened and the kid that got injured and not try and psychoanalyze all the other teens in school. |
| There should be police presence in front of the school all day- including 1 hour before and after pick up and dismissal. |
To be fair, in my experience there is always a police presence at Wilson dismissal. Sometimes the officers are in cars, though. Also, I’ve never tried to distinguish between school security and MPD officers. Maybe there’s a division of duties of which we are not aware. |

Why on earth would they choose to hit him with a laptop?
I’m not saying it’s not horrible, it clearly is, but also super weird. |
| Did not hear about this from either of my Wilson students. Unforgivable that Wilson admin did not send an email to parents at least explaining the road closures, police presence, etc. reported above. |
| The point is that even if they do determine it was an assault by a Wilson student, no action will be taken and the victim will get zero support from DCPS unless the parents threaten to sue. |
