What happens is daycare did their due responsibilities and called CPS because they saw deep purple bruises on my child's body part. And, I left a note in his backpack upon dropoff that it was a cultural thing that's for good health (look terrible but actually painless), and my child is fine. I swear it is not physical abuse and I love my child to death. The reason I knew because daycare notified me about that. I called DH to tell him about that, and he is not worried at all. I am really worried about it. What will I expect? Are they planning to do home visit, call pediatrician or asking me to get my child checked out, or nothing will happen? Anyone has gone through that before?

1. Good for your daycare.
2. I've never in life received a deep purple bruise painlessly.

are you eastern european and is it cupping? but that would look very particular.

OP, your daycare was right to call. CPS will investigate and, if things are as you say, they will close the case and nothing will happen. You’ll probably have to provide proof of the activity, and at it is culturally significant to you and your family.

They will guide the investigation. Answer their calls and give all facts and cooperation that they ask for.

I have - cupping.

This sounds suspicious. You could really use some parenting help. I'm so grateful for daycare teachers doing their jobs and caring for the children. Whatever you did to your child hurt them and left a mark! If it is anything done to the genitals, at home and not by a professional in a health facility, god help this child.

NP. Cupping that you, as an adult, opted into and fully knew what was going on and understood, yes? And you had words and authority to stop the treatment at any time, because there was no power imbalance between you and the practitioner, yes?

Got it.

A child cannot opt-in, fully understand, and tell a parent to stop (with a guarantee that the parent will stop).

If whatever you did was truly legit, it will be ok.

But really OP...what did you think was going to happen? Cultural or not, big purple bruises are not socially acceptable here. I get you sent a note but you should have spoken directly with the teacher and explained.

So OP, are you going to tell us if it was cupping or something else?

Dear Teacher,

You will probably notice that Larlo has deep purple bruises on his body. Don't worry! I was the cause of the bruises. They were inflicted by me, his parent who he trusts to protect him, so it's OK and not child abuse.

Signed,

Psycho-ignorant Abusive Parent

Odd phrasing here. Have you...been reported to CPS by another person or institution, then?

Or in another jurisdiction?

Sounds like cupping to me and I can see this happening. We're white, so not cultural, but I took my son to my acupunturist for cupping one year. He had bacterial pneumonia and was treated with anti-biotics, but just never bounced backed energy-wise and was still missing school. She recommended cupping and I was shocked that the deep purple spot (only 1 appeared that deep color) was exactly the lower lobe of his right lung where the dr heard the pneumonia.

I can see people not understanding. It's totally normal and not abusive...but it did help ds to heal. I'm sorry you are going through this. It's not child abuse. I've also had (and sorry I don't know how to spell it) guasha that also would leave a mark, but again, not child abuse, just people ignorant of alternative eastern treatments that have been around for centuries (and work).

Not OP, but I have and my child has too. Cupping is not painful. Do some research before you accuse.

OP refuses to say if it was cupping. Which is suspicious because a lot of people here are saying cupping OK. I don't think it was cupping.
