Chris loves Julia’s kitchen

Anonymous
Yes, I follow Chris Loves Julia. I started following them in their earlier houses (before the last 2 I think?) and liked their choices. Not anymore so much. Although I would love to live in the house they are in now, I don't like their design choices. The powder room is not my style at all.

But to the kitchen: I have to see it play out. The only thing right now I just can't picture is the claustrophic vent hood thingy. I hate that look in general, but Chris is tall and it doesn't look like he fits in the space.

Google "Chris Loves Julia" and you'll see.

I had heard of them before but never followed them until very recently. We just bought our first home and have a lot of renovations in our future.
I am interested to see how the kitchen comes together. The wallpaper in the girls room is so pretty but I was shocked at the price.
I would love to know a ballpark figure on these renovations. I just have no understanding of the level of cost on this sort of stuff. I was shocked when they just flippantly and casually mentioned moving the fireplace to a new wall so they could put a window to overlook the pool. I mean, that has to be a lot of money!
Also, very curious how all of this translates into resale value. I know they aren't planning on selling but curious.

They’re outsourcing a lot of design now to more well known designers (e.g. exterior of the last house, now the kitchen). So it’s sort of changed. I’m a bit less interested. Compare that to Emily Henderson who still seems much more in charge of the design aspects

I thought their recent powder room remodel would be atrocious, but besides the boob light sconces, which I hope they will one day swap, I think it’s really beautiful.

Sarcasm? That is one of the ugliest bathrooms I have ever seen, incorporating several bad design trends of the 90s — brown horizontally striped wall paper, wooden toilet seat and a wooden Ethan Allen dresser mirror. Let’s not forget both the wallpaper and the tile floor design are off center.

Sorry. They are bloggers. I just assumed there would be no need for a link as they have been talked about before on here. I’m not sure I know how to post a link either way!

I’m on here a disturbingly large amount of time, and no, they are not a frequent topic of discussion.

Op here. I didn’t say frequently. They have been talked about before on this forum. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have started a thread.

Right? That was my reaction too! That's tearing down a 2 story brick wall and rebuilding. I like what the outcome would be but can't imagine paying the ticket.

Their blog and income has grown a lot in the past 10 years. Their last gut kitchen was an ikea kitchen! This current one is probably close to 200k. I believe her cabinets alone were 80k!

I don’t think it makes enough sense as the pool will surely be covered a lot won’t it? Who would want that as their view?

No sarcasm. I love the floors and the wallpaper and sink. I guess I didn’t notice that they are off center. I don’t mind the mirror but would probably change out the toilet seat if it were my place and for sure the lights. I abhor those lights!

Hmmm. It looks like he will need to bend over and inside of it to cook. I think they should make the header area a little higher.

I have no idea what you're talking about. Are they into MLM's?
