Oh, hell no. McLean, if you must.

Otherwise, Robinson.

NOT asking what you think is the best ranked/most prestigious. Asking for personal opinions about schools you'd like to send your children to (or currently do) and why.

In NoVa?

McLean - strong sense of community (compact boundaries), top academics, diversity (about 50% minority and 10-15% low-income); not hyper-focused on sports but does have some extra programs (strong rowing program), great band program, excellent student publications (newspaper, yearbook) plus the middle school (Longfellow) does a good job of preparing kids for HS so the transition is smooth.

Look at the responses, save for Wakefield

Kid #1 is at HBW though and I assume will stay there through high school.

We are also zoned with Wakefield and I am happy with that. Otherwise I think my kid could do really well at Thomas Jefferson, but I am not sure I want that kind of stress for him.

Currently zoned Wakefield and happy with it. Neighbors’ kids have done very well there and have gotten into very good colleges. We’d consider W-L and Arl Tech, but not interested in Yorktown, at all. If our oldest wants to apply to TJ, we’ll consider that, too, but our preference would be that they not attend that particular school. Nobody in our household needs that additional stress or pressure. Lol.

I was about to say Yorktown! I'm interested in your hesitations.

Yorktown or Meridian for us.

Excuse me!? Responses about Wakefield don't count? Or just positive things about Wakefield?

Zoned for Wakefield HS and our kids are v happy and thriving there. But since you're asking about the whole pyramid, I'd find a way to skip Gunston if possible.

You can easily skip Gunston. Students from Kenmore and Jefferson MS also go to Wakefield - but they both split between Wakefield and WL; so you need to know the boundaries....which will be changing.

DP. It means precisely what you suspect it means. It's the typical ultimate Arlington put-down of Wakefield.
I'm really sick of it; but at some level am grateful this ridiculous attitude persists because it keeps the Yorkies and WL-ers out of Wakefield thereby maintaining the positive benefits of Wakefield.
