Depends. Sometimes the people who blare the horn (which is sometimes warranted) - are just a-holes, and want you to speed or hit someone, so they can get where they are going, and not be blamed. |

No, it's just not my thing. I've called the person in the car who refuses to yield to the oncoming ambulance an idiot but I don't roll down the window to scream it.
I have a friend in her late 50's who flips the double bird at the drop of a hat. She's quite proud of herself. Our friend group teases her that she's 30 years past it being an understandable immature gesture and 20 years from it being a cute feisty little old lady thing. It's not a good look. |
| No because I would look like a poser doing it. I just ignore people. |
This. I never, ever give the finger. |
|
Pretty much anytime I have to pass someone in the right lane because they are stuck in the left lane.
|
| Ignore ignore ignore. This is the best way to deal with agressive obnoxious drivers. |
I have given the finger, but not since I was a teenager many, many years ago.

When I was 18, I gave the finger and a honk (standard Jersey driving protocol, I thought) to a guy and his girlfriend when they cut me off with centimeters to spare while exiting a highway. The guy slammed on the brakes, turned his car perpendicular to block me and got out with a bat while his girlfriend laughed and threw cheetos. He was yelling "you gonna give me the finger you little c--t! I'll f--king kill you!" The driver behind me backed up (thank god) to give me room to get away. I floored it across a parking lot and onto another road. He chased me for a few miles trying to run me off the road (going over a bridge!) while my friend called 9-1-1. We got his plates but he raced off when a police car happened to pull on the road a few miles later. I still get heart palpitations thinking about it and can only imagine if he had a gun. All these years later, my friend is still impressed I kept my car on the road and we got away in one piece. I will definitely be telling my kids this story when they learn to drive.
So....no, I don't give anyone the finger while driving no matter how bad I want to. Just not worth it! |
| Yup, I grew up in NY so it's a thing. I try to drive as little as possible because people are so so stupid on the road. |

When I was young I probably would have.
🙄 But after reading about so many road rage shootings, I just let things go. Old(er!) age has certainly mellowed me but most of why I choose to let things alone is that you never know what psycho may be carrying around a weapon in their vehicle….. |
This is what I was saying before. Often the finger givers are in the wrong because they are reacting to a glare or expression but they won’t ever admit they were wrong. A-hole drivers get more indignant when confronted with their bad driving and retaliate in some way by driving worse, giving the finger, or acting completely crazy like above. They aren’t going to learn their lesson so it’s just not worth it to engage. |
| Only to people with rightwing bumper stickers or decals on their car. If I can I’ll also try and get in front of them and then slow down. |
| Used to occasionally. Then some bro followed me turn for turn until I drove somewhere with police out front. He peeled off. I was pregnant and it scared me to pieces. Try my best not to gesture anymore. |
Adding he was aggressively tailgating me because he perceived me as being out of turn at a crossing. I had the right of way, but his vehicle was larger, more expensive, and being driven by a dong piece. |
