UPDATE: Police are still investigating the anonymous report of a shooter inside the school this morning. There has been no evidence of an immediate threat. As a safety precaution, W-L is cancelling school for today, October 6. Walkers have been dismissed. Students who drove their cars cannot access their vehicles until the investigation is complete. Bus riders are being picked up and taken home now. Anyone who is a car rider or who needs to be picked up will be taken to Dorothy Hamm Middle School where parents can pick them up beginning at 10:30 a.m. W-L students at the Career Center will be dropped off at their bus stops. An update will be shared with the community when the investigation is complete, and we will provide the status for tomorrow.

It was a complete mess this morning. Kids arriving while were not allowed into the building but were just left outside on their own, so APS created a huge crowd of kids outside that could have been a target. Kids started texting their parents trying to figure out what to do, some left, wandered around Ballston. What a mess.

A big empty parking lot wtih another big empty parking lot behind a building.
Both are controlled by the county right now since that was a covid testing site.

This is not a real challenge. It really isn't. But I swear the various school systems around the country are going to manifest into one. I put this in the same category as all the "people on Twitter are outraged" articles and then you look a little closer you see they found 2 random Twitter accounts with a combined total of 5 followers complaining about something

My kid heard it was someone dressed up as a shooter. It’s America theme day for homecoming so someone decided what’s more American than a school shooter 🤷‍♀️ No clue if this is actually true but that’s another rumor going around.
