Ringing, buzzing, whooshing tinnitus with full hearing loss in one ear and vertigo

Yes it is. Tell ENT it is an emergency, sudden hearing loss. Foxy Brown had viral sudden hearing loss. Required surgery in her case, but I think she wasn't seen right away

Yes, call teledoc, get prednisone asap till you can see ENT.

2nd shot gave me tinnitus and some hearing loss for 3-4 months

I'll call first thing in the morning, thank you.
(My second shot was in April, so it's been a long while, so I don't think this is vaccine related)

Emphasizing the need to cal up every ENT in the book to be seen tomorrow. It is troubling to me you have no relief from meclizine.

And my sincere sympathies. I had extreme vertigo for two days--received meclizine almost immediately and by the end of the second most of the vertigo was gone. (Determined to be a virus.) The incident gave me great insight into why certain symptoms can drive people to suicide.

This is an ENT emergency. I had sudden hearing loss a few years ago. ENTs keep emergency appointments open for this purpose. You must be seen within a few days (sooner is better) to improve chances of restoring some hearing. I had steroid injections in the ear and prednisone. Call around until someone will see you. Emphasize you have sudden hearing loss. Good luck.

OP here. Thanks everyone. I called back and they found room for me in another office, so I'll be seen today. Thank you everyone! Fingers crossed. This is scary, and I agree, PP, I actually understand how this could be something that would drive someone to suicide. It's torturous. The vertigo continues to come in waves, and now pain radiating into my head. Sigh.

Good luck, OP. Please keep us posted.

Steroids and time. Could be vaccine covid or viral
Or positional

OP here. Just following up, yes, high dose steroids for now, will go back on Wednesday and depending on whether the oral steroids are showing any improvement they might do an injection. Also have an MRI scheduled for Oct. 3, where he's looking for a benign style tumor in the ear, blood clot, or other tumor. Hopefully those are just ruled out.

OP when was your vaccine or did you have Covid recently? There is a FB group with tons of support and tips for tinnitus and hearing loss after vaccine (if that's what it is) but could help either way. 3k members.

I had the second dose of vaccine in April, and no, I didn't have Covid that I know of. I might look into that group, though, thank you!

+1

They'll fit you in. Go tomorrow.

I waited until I could get an appointment, which was 6 weeks. I am now deaf in one ear. The doctor said “you should have come in sooner” and I nearly killed him as that was the earliest one I could get. Tell me again why the Canadian system is worse?

+100. There is a small window of time that steroids will help. I lost partial hearing in one ear because I waited too long to see a doctor thinking that I just got water in my ear from swimming.

OP again, honestly it was the kick in the pants from you all that made me call back Wednesday. When I got to the doctor, in the middle of conversation (not complaining just conversation) I mentioned that I originally had an appointment for next week and I was grateful they got me in. He said, "WHAT? Here?" And I said, "no, one of your other offices" and he said, "No, I mean this practice? But OK, I'm going to address that with scheduling, You should have been seen yesterday with sudden hearing loss, no question." He apologized profusely and it was a good reaction from a doctor.
