BOE - who are people voting for?

Anonymous
I voted for Mandel, Diaz, and Montoya. Everyone’s views deserve a seat at the table. Hoping a more balanced BOE enables conversations and collaboration versus lawsuits and protests. Just look at the posters on this board. People are only allowed to be labelled super progressive or super conservative and they can’t get along with people with opposing viewpoints.

"Teachers’ role in parental rights became a topic after Brenda Diaz, a former Montgomery County Public Schools teacher turned homeschool educator, shared her opinions on parental rights during the event’s Q&A portion. She said with the lack of cooperation between parents and the schools, there will be no overall improvement.

“If we continue along this divide where the school system and parents are clashing, then we will continue to see failure in the school system,” said Diaz. “We will continue to see our children suffering."

And you have a problem with which part of what she said?

Diaz wants to end LGBTQ inclusivity. Don't you have a problem with that or are you full on MAGA Trumpanzee?

So M4L are they're trying to sneak in their hate & bigotry agenda by calling it parental rights?

Nobody is forcing you send your kid to public school. If inclusivity and diversity are things you oppose, then raise your little freak kids at home and shelter them from the real world. They will struggle once they are part of the world outside your overprotective roof but whatever.

If you think you have a right to pick and choose what MCPS teaches, then you haven't thought this through. How much can the schools accommodate closed-minded parents who think teaching anything other than religion is indoctrination?

Can I ask that my child not be exposed to teachings of four legged animals but everything else is OK? And my neighbor can tell the same teacher than anything orange triggers her child so please remove that from the classroom. Oh and another parent doesn't want their child exposed to science because they think none of it is real and God determines everything anyway. See how crazy this sounds?

Public school is designed to benefit . . . the public.
You may supplement as needed to fit your own views.

So you’re trying to take away parental rights that are fundamental?
You don’t think parents have rights with regards to their children?

Does EVERY view really deserve a seat at the table?
Nothing offends you? Terrorists? Nazis? You want a member of ISIS on the MCPS school board?

M4L thinks trans kids are demonic. Kids are demonic? That deserves a seat at the table?
M4L has close ties to the Proud Boys. Overthrowing our democracy and beating police officers deserves a seat at the table?
M4L uses Nazi quotes. Does that deserve a seat at the table?

Of course everyone has a voice but there are consequences and those who promote hate should not be given additional public platforms.
M4L isn't just another viewpoint. It is an extremist organization.

There's no room at the table for M4L.

Looks like Apple Ballot and incumbents

Diaz is doing as well as Smondrowski. Though both far behind Zimmerman.

Apple ballot picks weren't incumbents and looking like they'll all be on the ballot come November.

We're literally waiting for the election returns to come in, right now. The people who get a seat at the table are the people who get the most votes.

If everyone's views deserve a seat at the table, why even have an election?

Mandel is doing much better than I thought she would.

A Fox News personality matching a current school board member is pretty telling about the state of MCPS
