Can I ask how you reached this decision? Diaz and Stewart are opposites.

Laura Stewart, Natalie Zimmerman and Rita Montoya don't exactly inspire the kind of excitement that will get union members to spend their day off handing out flyers in the cold and rainy weather.

Which underlines the point, above, that having the Apple Ballot endorsement is not always the same as being MCEA's puppet.

How so? I think it would make the case that these 3 are puppets even more strongly since the union base isn’t that excited about them so they’d have to curry favor even more to keep that juicy apple ballot endorsement.

Montoya (because not Harris) and Stewart/Zimmerman because they seemed like they would understand how the system works given time on PTA or as a teacher, don't want to blow it all up, and have the interests of the people who actually utilize the school system and want it to be better.

Since many people just rely on those handouts, it might be better for some of the other candidates.

Mandel??? You are an idiot.

She is not focused on anything you wrote. What is wrong with your brain?

She is literally the opposite of safe "dibs on horney teens" did you even research anything she's Moms4Liberty garbage.

Calm down, sis. No need to call people names. Not everyone will agree with you. That's why we vote. Suck it up.

I voted for Mandel too. Not to “stick it to the libs” by any means, but it’s definitely a delightful bonus.

It makes the case that MCEA is not heavily invested in them. As for why they got the Apple Ballot nods, you could look at the other candidates. They are at odds with the incumbents over a variety of issues, some of the incumbents (like Evans) they had abandoned the last cycle, they are diametrically opposed to the far-right candidates and wouldn't ho with right-leaning ones, and they don't trust Kim from her prior DC central admin role.

The three left are not particularly objectionable to them, so, even without full throat, they endorse them as preferable to all the others.

Of course the union is invested in the apple ballot candidates. They're the only candidates they have in their pocket now. I think the PP was right, in that the base wasn't fired up enough in a primary to stand in the rain for them - probably making a fair assumption that the ballot itself will do the trick.

The over-the-top anti-Mandel poster is probably a false flag looking to garner sympathy for Mandel.

How long will it take for us to get results from the election tonight?

Of course, what else could it be?

I voted Diaz, Mandel and Mofor.

My main issues were educational standards, safety, budget and opt out.

They seem to be the main indicators for me of how MCPS is failing. I am very strong on those issues except opt out. I don’t care so much about per se, but to me it signifies the strident and unacceptable attitude at the BOE and MCPS that needs to be brought into check.

Heavily invested...but not heavily supportive??

Indeed - a shocker, right? Tell me you don't know how union political machines work without telling me you don't know how union political machines work...

This person wants a little Moms for Liberty influence in the Board to even things out I guess. They probably think we need a little homophobia and chauvinism at MCPS.

I don’t see M4L getting to the Nov ballot but of they do I really don’t see them winning. Maybe they can sneak through against multiple candidates but don’t see it in a 2 person race.
