Roe v Wade struck down

Just because the issue of whether abortion should be lawful, and if so under what circumstances, has been returned to the people to decide does not make it per se a “religious” or “Christian” issue.

It’s quite possible that there are many non-Christians, maybe even atheists and agnostics, who also don’t think abortion should be lawful in certain circumstances.

Just because Christians, or at least Catholics, have religious views about the morality of abortion does not make all opposition to it a “Christian” thing.

Get out of your bubble.

They have to misrepresent pro choice people’s positions because the actual position is so sane and sensible that pretty much everyone already agrees with it.

Women aren’t people in the GOP.

The right to determine the fate of your body is a fundamental civil right. Otherwise it wouldn’t be illegal to harvest organs from corpses of people who left no donor instructions.

Vegans think meat is murder. Do they get to decide for all of society what it cannot eat based on their ethical code?

Your reading comprehension is poor.

Abortion isn't "central" to Judaism nor a "Jewish thing" - what is however a long-held, strongly held Jewish belief is that life begins at birth, not at conception. It is wrong, un-Constitutional and un-American that one religious doctrine should be allowed to trample another.

Jews can’t force their religious beliefs on the rest of the country via the courts. Let the people vote on it.

Very ironic statement considering roe was just overturned by the christian justices.

Those Justices did not ban abortion - they simply left it to the democratic process. The many sources I’ve cited illustrate Jews explaining how abortion is important to Judaism and bemoaning the fact that the Court is no longer forcing this Jewish religious view on the rest of the country.

Nobody FORCED anyone to have an abortion. A Christian could live a happy Christian life and choose to never have an abortion. Christians right now are FORCING everyone else in society to not be able to have an abortion for no other reason than the fact that Christians don’t like it. If you can’t see the clear injustice of this then you have been brainwashed by religion.

Not at all. Just as with most things in life, people must decide on the law through their elected representatives. We must decide what is lawful and what is not—from what constitutes murder to the appropriate age to consider sex statutory child rape etc.

Overturning Roe gives the decision about abortion back to the democratic process. The articles I’m citing (including NPR) show Jews wanting to force a fundamental Jewish religious dogma on the rest of the country—that abortion must be available and legal regardless of the democratic will of the People.

We need separation of synagogue and state.

You are being a bigot and you know it. I know you think you’re being clever, but you’re not.

When you are losing the argument, just accuse the other side of being a bigot. Typical leftist tactic.

Just because you don’t like holding Jews to the same standards and putting Jews under the same microscope that’s always applied to Christians doesn’t make me a bigot. It’s Jews that are out there suddenly claiming that abortion access is fundamental to Judaism.

The Dobbs decision overturning Roe did NOT make abortion illegal or “force” a Christian dogma on anyone. It simply returned the issue to the people—all people regardless of religion—to decide.

I know you all think you’re being clever by claiming that Dobbs forced a Christian dogma on everyone; but you’re not.

So what is a Jewish woman to do if she lives in Texas and wants an abortion? She’s not allowed to get one for any reason and not allowed to travel out of state…

She is supposed to assume a higher risk of death. Because women suddenly have no right to get an abortion for any reason. DP.

I mean do women have the right to defend themselves against violence anymore? Used to be legal to beat women—deeply rooted in history even!

I just cannot with how intellectually bankrupt the SCOTUS has become.

Or to potentially seek it outside of the state which is what’s crazy.

It’s not ironic, it’s Orwellian. The doublespeak is sickening. This forum is full of it—slavery is freedom, prohibition is choice.

I had a conversation with my aunt yesterday and asked her how abortion being legal has impacted her life or the lives of those she knows over the past few decades. She asked what I meant. And I said has anyone that you know or have you been forced to have an abortion or been denied medical treatment because abortion has been legal. I asked if anyone died or was refused treatment due to abortion being legal. She said no. Of course not and I said well abortion being illegal will impact a whole heck of a lot of people you know and some of them will end up dying. We talked about the term abortion, what it actually means, and how it applies to a whole host of situations. I'm not saying she 100% changed her mind but she said she had honestly never thought of any of that before and had only gone by what she feels the Bible would want.

AP/NORC finding 61% believe abortion should be legal during the first trimester, but only 34% in the second trimester and 19% in the third, and an April Wall Street Journal poll finding more Americans approve of 15-week abortion bans than disapprove.

These stats are not correct

And even if they were correct, it's a medical procedure. What if I don't believe in vasectomies or believe in organ donation or Jehovah's witnesses who don't believe in blood transfusions? It doesn't mean any of those medically life-saving procedures should be illegal.
