POTUS and FLOTUS have COVID

I bet Melania is seriously P.O.d that Trump and his entourage didn't take any of this seriously, and that Trump made people around him not wear masks because it made him look bad.

I can't imagine he'll die. He's getting the absolute best care.

Yes, even if he is in fact seriously ill, he's odds of survival are at least 90 percent. But he is also likely to be too sick to work for weeks or even months

Oh BS. That’s some wishful thinking there. If he’s like most people with COVID, he will be absolutely fine.

He is in the hospital. Most people are not hospitalized.

+1. People generally are only hospitalized if they’re showing significant respiratory distress. Either Trump’s symptoms are worse than he’s letting on, or he’s having a complete anxiety meltdown over the diagnosis and wants to be hospitalized even though it’s not medically indicated.

He was hospitalized because his doctor advised him to do so. We know you thrive on drama, but stop spinning fiction.

You are incredibly blind when it comes to Trump. If any body else in the world said, "I'm going to the hospital for a few days" you'd no doubt recognize that that itself is a dramatic event. But because Trump tells you it is nothing to worry about, you think it's nothing.

If Obama was currently president and tested positive for COVID, he would also be whisked away to spend a few days under observation at Walter Reed - and you’d be cheering the abundance of caution shown in his case. The only reason you’re making this into such a huge deal is because it’s Trump. Admit it.

I don't know what planet you live on, but I have never even heard of someone going to the hospital and people "cheering," except for childbirth. And we know Trump isn't pregnant.

Please try reading more carefully. I have faith in you.

No. Point stands. I've never heard of such a thing. If someone goes to the hospital everyone thinks he's really sick even if he denies it. This counterfactual is beyond bizarre, and that's saying a lot given the absurdies that Trump supporters usually use.

omg.. you people.. there is no way Trump will "answer for the terrible things he has done". Too many people are protecting him.

Our country needs to heal. It can't heal with him constantly stoking hatred and anger. In order to get better, the cancer needs to be removed.

Seriously people, wake up.

Well I'm not surprised Trump tested positive for Covid - the guy's in 5 major risk groups!

1) He's elderly
2) He's obese
3) He's got a public sector job
4) He's a person of color
5) He's poor.

Hilarious—he’s a POC b/c he’s orange!

I don't think she'd care if she hadn't been forced to go to that Rose Garden ceremony. We all know how she feels about work (see her Christmas rant) so if she didn't have to be there she wouldn't have been.

OMG. We barely saw him and he was wearing a mask. In addition, he recorded himself right before leaving for WR and he looked and sounded normal. You people!

He looks pale, because he IS pale. He didn't have his orange on, and that's probably his natural skin color, sans makeup. I'm not saying he doesn't have breathing problems, because I don't expect this WH will be forthright with information, but not on the basis of anything I've seen so far.

I had shortness of breath last year with what turned out to be a very serious case of blood clots and pulmonary embolisms (emboli?). When you are very anxious about something—as a known germophobe like Trump might be with this diagnosis—you can end up with shortness of breath just from the anxiety, so the symptom alone may not be as meaningful as it seems. I’m guessing the decision to move him was made in part based on his pulse ox numbers.

The same crowd told me Trump would never be president. Would never admit to having COVID. I'll take my chances on letting the future unfold, instead of listening to DCUM psychics.

Thank you for explaining that to us. We would definitely not have understood without your guidance!

I don't believe this would happen. I also truly believed that Trump would quarantine in the WH. They have basic medical care available there.

I don't care for Trump as President at all, but I'm very worried about his hospitalization. He's our President, and this is a big deal for our country. I know everyone wants to spin this a thousand ways, but it's a big deal for the President to be hospitalized. And I'm worried. I truly hope he is fine and back in the WH soon (well, only until Jan 21). I know this is a political forum and everyone wants to score cheap shots. But a lot of Americans are worrried.

He must have deteriorated really quickly to have been hospitalized today after being ok earlier this week.

I'll be worried for the country if Pence, Pelosi etc test positive. The country will go on with or without a man. We have survived president's murders and attempted murders.

He’s a hypochondriac.

I put forth he has been sick since at least Saturday, became symptomatic and tested positive on Tuesday. Progression not rapid.

He can’t be in very good shape if he’s hospitalized. Hospital screams VERY ILL, NEED TO BE IN A HOSPITAL, ALL THE WHITE HOUSE EQUIPMENT AND HOUSE CALLS FROM PHYSICIANS AREN’T ENOUGH. Staying at the White House would have been the “I’m strong and the healthiest man ever elected” move: project tough guy image, downplay severity, not rattle the markets. Hospital trip - even if he mustered the strength to stand up and walk a short distance - is a BIG deal.

And no, the abundance of caution excuse doesn’t fly. As a former RN I can tell you a hospital is the last place you want to be if you’re trying to stay healthy. He’s already quite sick.
