Justice Elana Kagan yesterday on her fears about the future legitimacy of the Supreme Court

I’m pretty sure I saw a second Facebook DC executive that was also at the hearing because his wife was there. I’m pretty sure I saw him in the hallway and somehow he managed to escape getting scrutiny for it.

Yeah I was surprised that this didn’t get more attention.

Yeah, she's concerned because the court has now swung to the conservative side. I didn't hear her complaining when it leaned liberal. But that's what the electorate wanted and.....someone famously once said.....elections have consequences.

It's the lack of when or where that troubles me. Last weeks hearings turned into a "court of law" thanks to all of the idiots involved. I know this wasn't a trial with prosecutors and defense attorneys but that's how it played out. No jury would have found him guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. I don't doubt that something happened to her and I know his behavior during those years was boorish but the preponderance of evidence is incredibly weak.

This comment to me is one of the biggest problems we face today in this country. Absolute ignorance about sexual assault. DP - I don't need to school you here, but please, please do some, just a little, research on this type of violence. You need to educate yourself before you speak up. I wish the MeToo Movement would do more to educate the average person about this type of crime and the psychology of the perpetrators and the victims. We could have a much better discourse.

On most issues the SC is not divided; the vast majority of decisions are clear-cut, not 5-4. The areas where they're 5-4 are the same hot-button issues that divide the country: affirmative action, abortion, scope of freedom of religion etc.

It actually did get quite a bit of attention. Do a google search. People were just focused on the nutty protesters and didn’t pay attention to all the stories.

I personally think it is sad that an individual, not representing their company, can be the target of so much criticism. He was a friend of Kavanaugh’s. He wasn’t there representing his company. He didn’t speak out. Such a sad day for freedom, IMO.

Does anyone really believe this group of GOP will lift a finger when Rosenstein and Mueller are fired?

No, I think she is speaking to the public at large that THEY are thinking the court is biased.
Once again, this speaks to the problems in the past 40 years that the court has been seen as a branch of the legislature. Our Congress should be making the laws and the SCOTUS not legislating from the bench.

No Justice including Thomas has EVER had a sniveling crybaby toddler shitfit during confirmation hearings revealing him or her to be a partisan.

Words mean things.

It is not about guilt. It is about fitness. Kavanaugh is not fit for the court.

And NO Justice has EVER been falsely accused of participating in gang rapes, and having his wife threatened.

We have NO evidence that the accusations were false. And the folks having to move were the Ford’s.
