FCPS Skyview Boundary Revised Scenario 1 / 2

The final scenario is basically a very minor revision of the revised scenarios.

Is Reid going to change anything when she makes a recommendation to the board in July?

I just want to be done with this.

I feel like 2,000+ is still a good number for any high school. The staff can move to Skyview.

Do you have ANY idea how tone-deaf you sound when being "done with this" means that South Lakes and Westfield are going to take major hits under this "final proposal"?

I mean, sure, I guess those wanting to know for sure if they are in or out of Skyview would like some certainty, but this is some truly rancid sausage being made here.

Given how Reid operates, they'll spend shit tons of money expanding elementary schools in Herndon and then building a new Silver Line ES only for Reid to then get up on a soapbox again about making every middle school 6-8.

The staff can go to Skyview, sure. Thats not the issue. Its awful for the Westfield community to lose so many teachers and staff-its the youngest teachers who get destaffed first. And losing 900 students is nuts.

You understand that staffing is all formula driven right? It’s not like these teachers would be fired. Sure they’d have to go to a different school, but they have a job.

Chantilly is losing 600, so plenty of destaffing to go around

This is still a school year away. Westfield will lose some to retirements and other attrition. And, there is still new construction in the Westfield area.

Tone-deaf?

Long time ago I ran the numbers and warned Westfield would lose 1,000 kids. People didn't believe me and didn't really care.

This is what I said back in October.

I get that and some Oak Hill kids may well end up getting moved from Chantily to KAA.

But my question is this: what are you going to do if Westfield enrollment drops from 2700 to 1700?
