| who has had the most senior leadership turnover in the past year? mitre, cna, idą, or rand? |
| Most FFRDCs should remove an entire layer of executives and increase their span of control. |
Mitre didn’t really have “leadership” turnover. They got rid of middle managers, long-term SMEs, etc. Many glassdoor comments on this topic. |
Mitre sounds awful. How could it get this bad? |
Jason's push for growth, at any cost. |
This is a thread about FFRDCs...Sherlock!

| i think rand corporation’s ceo has wrotes some cooky articles abt the need to colonize space, aliens and human extinction |
This is the dumbest thing I have ever read. He was the director of IARPA and a senior advisor to President Biden. You do not get into these positions by writing about aliens and space colonization. You are clueless. |

If a benevolent, advanced extraterrestrial civilization exists, then it is probably distant. We would waste some fraction of remaining starlight if we waited for them to reach this region of space. There are around 10^13 stars in the Virgo Supercluster and, assuming each star could provide enough energy to sustain 10^10 sentients... our Supercluster could support 10^23 sentients. If we are not at the leading edge, and there are extraterrestrials more advanced than we are, then they are probably either not benevolent or not nearby. Otherwise, it is hard to fathom why they haven't intervened (overtly or covertly) in Earth's affairs to prevent the mass of suffering on this planet. |
| Is L. Ron Hubbard the president of Rand? ^ sounds like Scientology. |
Agreed. Self-preservation at its best. |
| The VP for RAND's largest FFRDC is stepping down... as of today.... |
…was removed |
Why? |
They refuse to accept that MPS is dead and gone. Huge resources (~50%) still allocated to this side of the business, when it will about 20% of MITRE in 2026. Lots of MPS leadership survived despite much of their staff getting axed. |
