SY+60 has a 9/1 cutoff therefore it works for US Soccer.
No.

Yes

I figured we'd get to 1000 after USCS pm and USYS released their league rules for next year. We're going to get there continuing to debate how to modify the SY system that was just a adopted 3 months ago to make it more fair for all the kids who were held back by their parents - or live in a minority of states. It's cool we're getting to 1000 - and 2000 seems doable now.

Only adopted by some leagues + they can still implement +60 if they want to.
The +60 would be for local play, like MSI and SAM and house leagues. That is what they do.

Nothing yet but they are considering the 2 month window on top of 9/1. This is because it addresses all trapped players, doesnt allow playing down, and potentially gives them a 2 month advantage over ECNL.

The only downside if you want to call it that is GA teams won't be able to participate in ECNL club tournaments. ECNL teams would be able to participate in GA club tournaments.

Thanks. We need to make a club decision and my daughter is Q4. if GA doesn't announce soon we have to go with the ECNL platform

Choose whatever club/league you want. Nobody cares.

I will say that choosing one league over the other based on which league allows your kid to play against younger players is pathetic.

Talented players generally are looking to play up not down.

I don't want to play against younger players for that reason. My daughter is small and holding her own being a Q4 birthday. I'm trying to avoid a trapped year which is why I want the correct platform.

So what I'm hearing is...
1. You want to avoid being a trapped player
2. You want your kid to play down against smaller players

Newsflash top colleges are going to cherry pick the best players on teams. You can likely still get recruited not being one of the better players. But in this situation your kid likely could have done just as well playing and instrument + getting a band scholorship + having good grades.

NO- what i'm saying is this. I want my daughter playing with peers in the same grade. I don't want a trapped year. I don't care about college scholarships for sports. Hence why I'm looking at the GA vs ECNL platform and regional teams (like Aspire, RL, DPL, NPL, etc). Just to stay on the SY platform

How and why did an anti SY+ opposition form?

You are arguing against something that doesn't exist in US Youth soccer. You are arguing against a troll that is convinced that if he can persuade an anonymous forums of SY + merits, it might actually materialize out of nothing.

It's a pointless argument for sure. But it will be nice to get to 1000 pages, so I'll take it.

Seems like one idiot pushing a garbage system not under consideration because it is essentially GY with hold backs, and cheaters and a 14 month window and while it may have been considered last year when they were debating (highly unlikely), it was not chosen when the rules were set. Done deal.

The troll said they had a girl which makes sense because a 14 month window for boys around puberty is a much bigger issue for boys than girls and much fewer girls play than boys.

SY+60 is the same as GY WITHOUT cheaters playing down.

Which as multiple people have said it what everyone wants.
SY plus is for cheaters.

Yes, wouldn't SY+60, e.g., let July birthdays play down with grade in a district with a 9/1 cutoff? One could argue that this two months isn't a big deal, but it's still a redshirted kid playing down, which is what most people are defining as "cheaters." So it would be "GY with cheaters, just not egregious cheaters."

It is clear that us non believers not having empathy for parents of July and August who are trying to cheat the system while they are not accepting that they are trying to cheat the system makes us villains.

A cheater is someone who breaks the rules. If the rule is you don't have to start school when a state picks an arbitrary date, and the rule is you have a 60 days window to play with your grade, then you're not a cheater. People who call them cheaters are just crybabies who think the world is out to get them.

Not multiple people. Puppeting.

I had to take my kids to school + stopped commenting about SY+60. There has to be 3-4 more people that understand that SY+60 makes a lot of sense.

There appears to be 1 angry troll pushing for a single cutoff date.
Anonymous
Just to rehash again...

SY = 9/1 cutoff
SY+60 = 9/1 cutoff, and if you were born 60 days before 9/1 + in a certain grade you can play at that level with proof of grade in school.

What this does is get rid of ALL trapped players + it doesnt allow players to play down even if they are regrades.

This is why people are calling SY+60 the same thing as GY-regrqdes.

If you were arguing that an exception should be made for kids in a state with a 7/31, 8/1, or 8/15 cutoff who attended school on time, I could see your point. Don’t think it will happen except with showcases, but a logical argument.

You are arguing that an exception should be made for kids who were blatantly red shirted because they were close to the cutoff so were held back and didn’t attend school on time. It’s bizarre that you can’t see the other side of this.

All a moot point because none of this is happening.

With SY+60 you address all the trapped players nationwide.

There might be parents in a 9/1 cutoff date state that hold back or regrade their 8/15 kid which would technically make them a redshirt. But this would be a rarity and it would only be possible for kids born 60 days before 9/1. Which isn't that bad.

The real regrade / holdback cheaters are the 16 year old freshman. This is the situation you dont want to allow.

So when will the new rules be put out? After all national tournaments?
Do we think clubs are actually anticipating any real changes?
Anonymous
SY+ lives. All other age classifications are cheaters
Anonymous
Another way to think of SY+60 is that its just a 7/1 cutoff date but with 2 months of grade validation.
Anonymous
16 year old freshman, 17 year old sophomores etc are an issue in local large public HS basketball programs.

US soccer will fail without SY+

we need sy plus to improve the national team
