The +60 would be for local play, like MSI and SAM and house leagues. That is what they do. |
NO- what i'm saying is this. I want my daughter playing with peers in the same grade. I don't want a trapped year. I don't care about college scholarships for sports. Hence why I'm looking at the GA vs ECNL platform and regional teams (like Aspire, RL, DPL, NPL, etc). Just to stay on the SY platform |
How and why did an anti SY+ opposition form?
You are arguing against something that doesn't exist in US Youth soccer. You are arguing against a troll that is convinced that if he can persuade an anonymous forums of SY + merits, it might actually materialize out of nothing. |
It's a pointless argument for sure. But it will be nice to get to 1000 pages, so I'll take it. |
It is clear that us non believers not having empathy for parents of July and August who are trying to cheat the system while they are not accepting that they are trying to cheat the system makes us villains. |
A cheater is someone who breaks the rules. If the rule is you don't have to start school when a state picks an arbitrary date, and the rule is you have a 60 days window to play with your grade, then you're not a cheater. People who call them cheaters are just crybabies who think the world is out to get them. |
I had to take my kids to school + stopped commenting about SY+60. There has to be 3-4 more people that understand that SY+60 makes a lot of sense. There appears to be 1 angry troll pushing for a single cutoff date. |
Just to rehash again...
SY = 9/1 cutoff SY+60 = 9/1 cutoff, and if you were born 60 days before 9/1 + in a certain grade you can play at that level with proof of grade in school. What this does is get rid of ALL trapped players + it doesnt allow players to play down even if they are regrades. This is why people are calling SY+60 the same thing as GY-regrqdes. |
If you were arguing that an exception should be made for kids in a state with a 7/31, 8/1, or 8/15 cutoff who attended school on time, I could see your point. Don’t think it will happen except with showcases, but a logical argument. You are arguing that an exception should be made for kids who were blatantly red shirted because they were close to the cutoff so were held back and didn’t attend school on time. It’s bizarre that you can’t see the other side of this. All a moot point because none of this is happening. |
With SY+60 you address all the trapped players nationwide. There might be parents in a 9/1 cutoff date state that hold back or regrade their 8/15 kid which would technically make them a redshirt. But this would be a rarity and it would only be possible for kids born 60 days before 9/1. Which isn't that bad. The real regrade / holdback cheaters are the 16 year old freshman. This is the situation you dont want to allow. |
So when will the new rules be put out? After all national tournaments?
Do we think clubs are actually anticipating any real changes? |
SY+ lives. All other age classifications are cheaters |
Another way to think of SY+60 is that its just a 7/1 cutoff date but with 2 months of grade validation. |
16 year old freshman, 17 year old sophomores etc are an issue in local large public HS basketball programs. |
US soccer will fail without SY+
we need sy plus to improve the national team |
