Private & Independent Schools
Did Whittle redo the entire interior to be a functioning school for potentially 1,000 students? Would it need millions more to make it actually functional as a school? What a disaster. |
| It's half built and notoriously expensive to heat and regulate temperature. No outdoor space. Anyone seriously interested would need hard numbers on what it costs to run ---as well as completion costs. They also don't have all their approvals from the city for being a green building ( required) and other issues. Known as a money pit before it was on the market the first time due to design issues that persist today. Nice athletic court on the top though! I'd think the city would be better off without so much risk-----its a weird building that Whittle loves to applaud as "a masterpiece"..... |
| Well FUNDING FELL THROUGH AT THE LAST MINUTE and now the teachers have not been paid and there are no funds to pay them. CW and the Parent Capital Strategy Committee are hopeful and will be talking to a source tomorrow to try and secure enough funds to get them through mulitple pay cycles. |
|
It is remarkable that through all of this there has never been a plan B. There was a vague mention in December that the school would try to figure out something, but nobody has ever mentioned it since. Time and time again we approached the precipice and found another week or two weeks, but still the only talk was of the Big Deal. Nothing about what would happen if there was no Big Deal.
Now that teachers are being asked to go work tomorrow without pay (and keep doing so for at least a week) they bring it up again, but it is still vague hand waving. If they had started in December, maybe there could be a plan to implement tomorrow. As it stands the plan is that hopefully teachers will work with no guarantee they will be paid. It's disgraceful. |
| The December plan was mentioned again. It’s to have teachers continue working in pods with kids and parents will pay them. |
Those of us familiar with Whittle's patterns are absolutely SHOCKED at the fact that funding fell through. Who could have seen that coming?
And the familiar refrain of being "hopeful" that huge sums of money will be magically conjured up tomorrow and all will be well. It seems that the remaining faculty, staff and parents are engaging in consensual hallucinations with CW. You are all failing the real victims here - innocent children who should not be turned into guinea pigs for this disgraceful sociological experiment... |
Horrible. And just more evidence, as if any was needed, that Whittle cares about nobody and nothing except himself. All his braying talk about education, for decades now, has been nothing but theater. His true goals are just being a rich guy, but he also wants the image of someone who cares about higher things and is above simple greed. Almost unfathomable what a cold-ass monster you have to be to do this to teachers, who do care about education and about the kids they teach and have kept trying to do what they feel is their duty despite his repeatedly snatching their minimal livelihood out of their hands. As for him, I'd be veru surprised if he hasn't made many strategic sales over the years of his art collection, his fancy furniture and antiques and some of his real estate to offshore himself a good stash for his old age, when he'll certainly want to keep staying at the Ritz. I wonder if anybody in his orbit has called him out on the callousness of all this. It's sick. |

How does the school even pretend to continue in this environment? Like a teacher and class can focus on the next math lesson in the unit that they’ll have a test on next week? Or they start their outline for the persuasive essay they’ll finish next week?
Everyone must be exhausted. It seems pointless at this point. |
Narrator: No one is going to flush the money needed down the toilet. |
| For all of the actual parents, I’m genuinely sorry for what you’re going through. I’ve known some anxiety in my life, and I can’t imagine the unnecessary stress that this is causing. |
But that's just it PP - unnecessary stress.. With all the lies and false promises that CW has told the parents, staff, teachers and students over at least the past 12 months, why is anyone still giving him the benefit of the doubt? Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me several times, shame on ___ There are several other viable, stress-free options available. To stick around this theater is pure madness |
This has been a very slow moving train wreck. A parent who doesn't want the anxiety would have moved their kid to public school over the winter break assuming that they didn't apply out to another private last spring. Anyone still there is dealing with this by choice |
| Parent Capital Strategy Committee.. What a pompous moniker to obfuscate what it really is - Please Children, Save Chris! |
