Anyone else uncomfortable watching Catelynn and Tyler talk about Carly? Catelynn kept talking about how she wants to write to Carly and include stamps and paper so Carly can write back to her "directly" and she kept using the word "directly" over and over. She couldn't have made it more clear that she wants to bypass Brandon and Theresa. Something about the fact that it's 12 years since Carly was placed for adoption and Catelynn and Tyler are STILL leaning on Dawn the adoption case worker, strikes me as odd. I wouldn't quite say C&T need to "get over" Carly, but they are emotionally suffocating. They should really quit the show so they can stop having a storyline based around a child they placed for adoption and to a certain degree, move on, in life. They seem, STILL, after ALL this time, angry at Brandon & Theresa for protecting Carly from having to think about beinxg adopted. It seems like if Catelynn and Tyler had it their way, they would move next door to Carly, and she would sleep over at their house for half the week and they'd have split 50/50 custody of her, and attend all her dr appointments, school plays, parent/teacher conferences, ball games, Girl Scout meetings, ballet recitals, etc.

I’m not fully caught up on this season. Do Catelyn/Tyler know Carly’s address? I think during the early years Dawn coordinated all mailings between them. I definitely agree that the show has stunted Tyler and Cate’s healing from the adoption. I also think Cate/Tyler made the choice to give Carly thinking that thry had no choice but realized after a year or two that they could have kept her and that is ultimately damaging them the most. I hope Brandon and Theresa are getting Carly serious therapy so that she is equipped to handle Cate/Tyler the minute she turns 18.

Amber needs to be locked up. There is nothing redeemable about her.

Catelynn and Tyler had no idea that they would stop being poor, directly because the Teen Mom franchise would do well. They had no idea they would wind up being able to earn thousands of dollars to do speaking engagements. Nobody knew. If they'd known, they could have suffered with Carly for a 2-4 years being poor and then been fine, financially. Except look at their lives - they keep trying to crank out more and more kids (probably to soothe the hurt of having placed Carly for adoption), they squeaked through their high school graduations, they haven't gone to college. Catelynn is certified to ... tattoo eyebrows or some shit? Tyler and Cate "wrote" a book. They're just kind of floundering. I really hope MTV hooked them up with a good, reliable financial advisor who can help them save money for their girls' college education.

I realize that. That’s why I said a year or two later they realized they could have kept her. I think it was more watching their peers figure it out that led them to that conclusion than money.

Given that almost all the castmates, including Tyler and Catelyn, have had serious tax issues I really doubt MTV has provided them with a financial advisor.

Since this thread was revived....did anyone see the video David Eason took of the chickens? He's with Ensley and she said "you killed a baby chick yesterday" over and over again and he says "I did not, I'm going to smack your mouth". It was so sad. I can't believe Nathan isn't in court every day fighting for Kaiser.

Absolutely. One day those girls will wake up and realize that their parents world revolved around their regret giving up their sister for adoption. Until Cate and Tyler come to terms with their regret, they’ll never get it together. It seems as though MTV provides them a perfect way to marinate in it perpetually. They have other children who need them. Carly is fine. I feel like if they matured (aren’t they nearly 30 by now?) they’d lead happier, more fulfilled lives with the children they actually have.

Oh Amber is so far beyond "losing her temper." Please don't downplay her violent criminal behavior. I've "lost my temper" before, but I've never attacked anyone with a machete!

Sadly, Nathan isn't much better. He's said as much that he isn't equipped to care for his son either. His mother has been the one who is the primary caregiver during Nathan's time, and if anybody got custody besides J/D or Barbra, it would likely be her.

Leah isn't terrible. she's West Virginia trash but she loves her kids. She had a stint with pills but got better.
