Cosby vs Thomas Dale 21-0

So to answer your question to if there’s any reason to beat a team by a high margin I’m pretty sure the losing team would prefer the other team to not hold ball and play monkey in the middle for the entire game. I’ll defend coaches on this one.

Now, if the winning team is up by a lot and they pound goals in the last minute or seconds of the game I consider that poor coaching and bad sportsmanship.

It’s just as hard for a coach to coach a team that’s blowing out a team then it is for the other coach. I can tell you for a fact..

Looks like MV generated a huge number of their own blowouts this season, until they played the top teams. Landstown was simply overmatched in every way. They would likely finish at the very bottom of many Districts.

My kid plays on one of the losing teams listed above. We knew that it was going to be a very lopsided victory for the other team. That said, there *were* some goals scored at the end that were unnecessary and I wish the other team would have held off. That said, I totally get that some girls who don’t score very often probably wanted to get some goals. I don’t know - I understand both perspectives.

In a blowout, no scoring in the last 2 minutes. Keep it below 20. Pull most/all starters when up by 10. Let the backups play.

Did you watch either game? The Robo game was a running clock after the first quarter. All starters were out for nearly the whole second half. Most of it was just passing around. I think all goals scored the second half were from players just pulled up from JV and nearly all of those were on 8 meters I think. I would not call that bad sportsmanship! I think both teams would have preferred a more competitive game but that happened to be how the playoffs were structured this year.
