"Teachers’ role in parental rights became a topic after Brenda Diaz, a former Montgomery County Public Schools teacher turned homeschool educator, shared her opinions on parental rights during the event’s Q&A portion. She said with the lack of cooperation between parents and the schools, there will be no overall improvement.

“If we continue along this divide where the school system and parents are clashing, then we will continue to see failure in the school system,” said Diaz. “We will continue to see our children suffering."

And you have a problem with which part of what she said?

Diaz wants to end LGBTQ inclusivity. Don't you have a problem with that or are you full on MAGA Trumpanzee?

So M4L are they're trying to sneak in their hate & bigotry agenda by calling it parental rights?

So you’re trying to take away parental rights that are fundamental?
You don’t think parents have rights with regards to their children?

Oh shut up with the moms4liberty utter BS!

They are a hate group you moron how dumb are you?

We are not putting those Nazi loving shits on the boe.

DP. Everyone agrees parents have rights. Such as the right to choose whether to send your child to public or private school, or to homeschool. And the right to vote for members of the BOE. Parents, however, do not have the right to specify an a la carte curriculum for each child.

So then why do you want a la carts for each child?

I've never opted my kids out of any part of the curriculum. Not because the curriculum is anything fantastic, but because that's how public school works. You get what you get. If you don't like it, advocate for changes at the system level. But don't expect individual teachers to manage who knows how many different parental opt-outs.

Actually, in public school, it seems like parents can opt out of anything and everything - except this. Parents can opt their kids out of: parties, field-trips, the Pledge of Allegiance, sex-ed, dissections, vaccinations, etc.

But opting out of those things doesn't hurt other people's feelings. Once your personal choice impacts the mental health and self esteem of other kids, it's not your choice anymore.

There is no such thing as parents "opting out" their kids from the pledge of allegiance. Everyone has a constitutional right to not say the pledge of allegiance.

There's also no such thing as parents "opting out" their kids from vaccinations required by state law. There is legal vaccine refusal, and there is medical exemption, both provided for in state law.

Sex education is in the health curriculum as required by state law, and state law provides an opt-out for parents.

I voted for Melissa Kim for the at-large position. I think her experience would make her a good new addition.

Which is why this oft-posting troll is far more likely to be a right wing supporter who is throwing out these over-the-top bits to elicit support, both by makung the base angry and by garnering sympaty from any who might be on the fence. Don't listen to the drivel, but don't buy into its authenticity, either.

I was planning to vote for Montoya, Stewart and Zimmerman solely based on an industry association endorsement. I came here to check my preliminary thoughts but this thread seems to have taken a weird turn.

"wow" no that belongs to anyone that supports Moms4liberty it you do not understand the heinousness of that sub human group of Nazi lovers you are an idiot.

My family fought so this country would not have this utter shit in our schools.

There are no vocabulary words for the hate they spew and the hate putting one of them on the BOE would spread and dumb down education.

Everyone here wants MCPS to. do better well RW garbage ie Moms4Liberty is the opposite of that goal.

Do you even know what their "classical curriculum" stands for? How they will ban books and science??? Promote hate from their love of Hitler. Yes that's right they support Hitler and not any science they promote garbage period.
