Like her or not, Cheh certainly played her cards right during the last election. She is probably the third most important elected official in the DC government at this point.

What don't you like about her, OP?

OP here. You are correct. Cheh did align herself with Gray and I thought she would pay for it, but she's smarter than I gave her credit for. I don't like her because shes a nanny state politician who thinks she knows what is best for us: see":bag tax and putting animals before people.

Please explain? (And please don't let this be another tired rehash of the dog park issue . . . )

I supported the dog park. She tried to pass a silly wildlife law that got struck down.

It wasn't "struck down" exactly. It passed the Council but, apparently, was vetoed by Fenty. She can reintroduce it and, assuming the Council approves it again, Gray will sign it.

I live in her ward and think she is easily the best councilmember we have had.

On top of that, it is clear she will be the brains on the council and likely the conscious as well. We are damned lucky she stepped up 4 years ago.

What "silly wildlife law" is this?

It's your call whether it's "silly" or not.

I agree, but let's be real - this is roughly the equivalent of being the best surfer in Iceland. The Council isn't exactly brimming with intellectual firepower.

If you think you can do better, why don't you take a shot of city council.

hahahahahahahahahahaha

You think getting elected to the DC Council (or any elected office) has to do with . . . brains?

hahahahahahahahaha

Different poster here, but really, if you are going to criticize it, why throw stones. It is our government, and while across the board, it may not be the best and the brightest the city has to offer, they are the ones who have oversight of the agencies, oversee the budget and are on the various regional committees to deal with MD, VA and the federal government.

If you think you could do better, go for it! Cheh was a regular person who had no political connections, no connections to developers or anything at this time 5 years ago. Given who she ran against 4 years ago, I would say it is pretty impressive that she not only beat those other candidates (who had political ties, community bases and developer money) but beat them handily.

Actually Jack Evans is the smartest person on the council.
