And by beating up on the Sister-of-the-Poor 5A JV squads. They beat a Lightridge team who’s best commit is going to Radford, the same Radford team ranked 128th out of 131 teams. If you’ve ever seen teams play at this level in D1 you know how painful those games are to watch. Lightridge may be tops in 5A but that’s not saying a lot.

I’d like to better understand what teams are considered on top and who should be on everyone’s schedule? Looking at prior comments, some contradictions on who has a tough schedule and who doesn’t.

This year it’s really YT and everyone else. There are not as many elite teams as there have been in past years like YT, Woodson, Madison, Oakton, Riverside, Dominion, etc. With the drop off in numbers playing and talent level there seems to be more parity among average teams.

Can you provide a link to the data that shows a drop off in numbers playing? There is no way to compare talent level across tens of teams over time so I won't even ask for support on that point.

There is not data. My friend who is a ref told me so it must be true.

That’s funny because I’m pretty sure Lightridge beat the #4 Langley team at the start of the season. But you’re right, they must be soft (Langley that is)

And Langley parents, before you go ands get upset. I’m being sarcastic. Obviously you are not soft and are still a very good team. My point was that Lightridge is also a very good team

Oakton @ Bullis - Again, another test to measure their grit.

4/11
Madison @ Yorktown ******* is this on ESPN? Or Fox Sports?

Would love for Oakton to beat SSSA again like in 2023. Do it for the fans!

Very different year. More than 20 to less than 5 in favor of the Saints this time. KJ has a long memory.

This is the biggest issue I have right now with people on this board. The over judgement of colleges. For those that haven't been through it. Kids pick a college to play at for a myriad of reasons. Not the highest ranked school to please everyone else. We keep beating up ASU for some weird reason. All the Yorktown kids weren't going good enough places. Now the Lightridge kid is getting dogged for picking Radford. Rankings change every year on all of these schools. Kids commit in the fall of their Junior year. 2 FULL College seasons will be played before they step on campus there. They don't pick it on ranking. It's location, coach, feel, school, major availability, logos (I know), comfort on campus. So many things. ASU could be 40th when a kid commits and then 20th or 80th by the time they step on campus. Radford could be 75th or 129th. The High School kid has no control over that until they get there.

Battlefield has scheduled tremendously well. Trying to play everyone and anyone they can to challenge themselves. Including scrimmaging Riverside and playing Lightridge. Clearly the best 2 5A teams in Northern Virginia. You can dump on 5A all you want. Lightridge beat Langley, beat Meridian, and beat Madison in a scrimmage. Battlefield had a great game Friday night and beat Lightridge. Doesn't mean they suck. They would still beat almost every time in D6. Outside of Yorktown and Battlefield I would put them up against everyone else. Oakton, Langley and Madison is the next group. They clearly competed in that bunch already.
