Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Kelsey Gill said that Peres Magalhaes and Brendan Banfield began an affair “several months” before the slaying, based on photos of the two authorities found on the au pair’s cellphone.

“The photos even included them taking a trip to New York City together,” Gill said. “So this was not a mild thing that was going on in the home.”

Gill questioned why a law enforcement officer let Ryan stab his wife multiple times before shooting at him. The prosecutor added her disbelief that Brendan Banfield would tell the au pair to shoot at Ryan again after he had already shot him.

The Post story makes it sound like the prosecutors are saying Joe really did stab Christine.

He is on leave and the child lives with him. It is rumored that he has cut contact between the little girl and Christine's family, perhaps so info was not shared, like au pair in mommy's bed.

Poor wording, think it was meant to be sarcastic.

LE has made it clear from Day 1 that Joe and Christine are both victims of BB and AP. And of course that the child is the biggest victim.

Guess his mom kept the little girl when he and AP hit up NYC.

It is utterly horrifying how they murdered 2 people in cold blood and then just went on with their shallow lives and amusements. Fall Out Boy and the Big Apple.

I really worry for the little girl's future, she lost her mom, then the disrupted attachment with Christine's family, then the AP's arrest which had to be a shock, now some weird isolated life with on leave BB until hopefully he is arrested one day. OJ's kids believe in his innocence, maybe this will play out the same way...I wonder if she picked up on AP's resentment of her, kids can be very intuitive.

I hope the case is stronger than it appears to be. Justice won't bring Joe or Christine back but if these 2 skate will be a travesty. I can't imagine she'd get another visa in those circumstances but he might marry her to keep her in the country?

There were 4 adults present and involved and There are two victims dead, per law enforcement. Christine Banfield and Joseph Ryan. Juliana has been arrested for firing the fatal shot to Joe and Joe only,
not murder of Christine. Which means she did not kill Christine. Joe, who was a victim,
Did not kill Christine. It only leaves one person and that is Brendan, who will be arrested for Christine’s murder.

Me either. My take was that the prosecutors believe the stabbing was staged, although we obviously aren't getting the whole story yet.

The next couple weeks will hopefully lead to arrest. Juliana’s court date is Jan 17. Will she keep protecting him?

It is my understanding that it is open to the public, but the district court website says they will turn people away if it gets too crowded.
