It’s already been noted Top 30 offers are hard to come by. Add to this it’s rare a college program offers two athletes from the same club team. It does happen, but not often.
So, not only are players competing against other clubs, they may be competing against each other for one offer. This is where the better clubs know how to showcase players fairly. Other clubs let hero ball run rampant, causing frustration for many. |

What's with the burst of concern about recruiting on the 2028 page? It's a fairly straightforward formula at present for parents of players on teams in the DC area going into 8th grade. First, you have already chosen your daughter's team for next season. So there is really no point to playing the "what-if" game on whether they should have gone to MD to tryout, comparing Pride v Stars, whether MC Elite can get better etc., because you are locked in for the '23-24 season. Second, the clearly superior option in the DC-area for players that want to play on a top club team, and pursue the chance to play in college, is Capital. Tryouts are 49 weeks away... Nothing to do right now except support your daughter's continued athletic and lacrosse development. In March, you can look at camps at schools that might be a good fit for your player. In May, if you think your family can possibly stand the commute, you can look at options to tryout with MD teams that don't conflict with Capital. No need to stress out reading long--even if well-written--posts on how hard it will be. School is about to start. Fall is development time. Months away from tourneys. Chill. |
| For the poster above if you are waiting for the Capital tryouts 49 weeks away you will most likely be a day late and a dollar short. Players are identified well in advance, politics are well in play, and tryouts are left for a few surprise players who were not on the radar. |
Here we go. "Positioning" for Capital is a topic that has been covered at length on this thread. See eg. Stars v Pride debates (Season 3); benefits of clinics and all-star teams; whether it helps to go to certain high schools, which private training businesses matter, et al. Different topic, and yes, well underway. I was writing about the recruiting travails in 10th and 11th grade that multiple posters seem to want people to worry about this weekend. Not necessary; not an 8th grade issue. Enough with the trolling intended to make parents feel anxiety. I can just see some poor mom or dad reading and wondering if they are failing to play "politics"... Just stop. |
I appreciate the insights of those who have been there. If you don’t like the advice don’t read it or follow it. Better to know now and prepare for it than have reality smack us in the face after it’s too late. For those posting on previous experiences, please keep doing so. It’s appreciated by most of us. |
“Most” of us. Okay…. Glad you have your finger on the pulse. |

Looks like the page monitor has tired of discussions of individual folks as well. Good.
Let's talk about lacrosse. |
| Anyone's clubs playing in the St James "Elite" Fall league? I assume Stars is in, of course. Any other team's sign up? |
My daughter plays four stars and we haven’t heard anything about it, nor is it on our team snap. So we are not sure |
Elite is a stretch. |

Elite? LOL
|
| What Fall leagues will the DMV teams (Pride, Stars, NL, etc) be participating in? |
All I did was gently put elite in quotes. You guys and the lols... Maybe the big dogs from MD are coming down to enjoy the great St James facility? No need to pile on. Just wondering what teams have signed up as the start of play is around the corner. |
I somehow get the impression that the Elite pile ons were trolls trying to start something. There are a few on this thread. |
